Anyway I was reading something over on the DIS boards. About paying in the parks.

This is what was said over on DIS, ' i hate bringing my credit cards cuz it requires bringing my id too'

So I told my dad about this for our 1st upcoming trip to Florida. And he said it would be rubbish. As in the UK we use chip & pin method of validation.

So please is this true and if so please advise me on telling my dad on which i.d. to carry with him(57), my mom(55), my gran(77), and me(17).

Thank you in advance

Well, i recommend that you do. With Disney's new Ticket Tag thing wherein Your ticket is your ticket, and they use the biometrics on each one, If they dont match, you need some form of ID to prove you are you. Else they wont let you in the park.

As for Credit Cards, if the signatures dont match, theyve been known to ask for ID just to make sure there arent fradulent sales going on. There's no pin number to ask for nor give.

As for ID, your basic UK Drivers License should work fine, You shouldnt have to bring a passport to the parks.

I have used both credit cards and room keys hundreds of times and never had to show ID. If you have a debit card you only need to punch in the PIN and shouldn't have to show ID

Depending on the card system you have, you might not even be required to sign if the total purchase is less than $5 at WDW... it's great for Quick Service (All quick service and most food cart locations accept credit cards)

I have a Disney Visa, and I don't have to sign when I buy my Mickey Prem. bar. ;)

Disney rarely checks for ID at food locations. It's usually at stores where there will be an ID check. Or the park entrance.

I would argue that it is better to be safe than sorry. I have never been asked for an I.D. at WDW. As a matter of fact, I always have charging privileges on my room key and have forgotten to sign the back before. The only thing that happened was that the cashier handed me a pin and asked me to sign it right there in front of her. That being said, the one time that I don't bring my I.D. will be the one time it is asked for and I would be up a creek!! It can't hurt to bring it just to be sure you won't be stuck!!

You will need and ID to check into your resort if you are staying on property.

By law, every place of business that accepts credit cards, is supposed to ask for proper ID - now wether they do or not is another story, but come prepared b/c it'll be that one time that you don't bring your ID that you get asked for it... this just happened to us a couple months ago at the Coronado - I never bring my license to the parks, just my room key - and when we stopped back by the gift shop at the CS there was a manager (that happend to be the biggest pain in the rear ever - she had no concept of Disney Magic) that would ask for a PICTURE Id each time I used my debit card or room key- now granted I look young - but for Pete's sake - I was only bying a bag of pretzels or some juice. She ended up working the gift shop every single evening we were there and each time we'd try to make a purchase she would hold everyone up in line that used credit cards by asking for a picture ID ... So come prepared - so you don't get turned down anywhere.

That notwithstanding, Ive seen instances where Guests have been turned away from the turnstyles because the biometrics didnt match and they lacked ID. Ive seen it happen, ive had guests try to get me involved and i simply walk away and let the properly trained Cast Members handle it.

How's things in The Toon Herk?

I've had no problems using credit cards in the parks (just check if your credit card company puts gaff charges on for using it abroad, mine does, but they used to hide the fact, I now use my Nationwide Visa debit card as they don't charge for use abroad).

But as Photo Dave points out, it will be a good idea to carry a driving licence as well in case of a malfunction with the park ticket.

The toon is okay thanks to the fact were now winning with Souness in charge.
Anyway I degress would disney accept the Citizen card thingy as valid I.D. in not only WDW but Florida in general.

I doubt the Citizencard could cut it over there. You can contact Disney directly and ask them - there is a contact link at the bottom of www.disneyworld.com.

I suspect that if nobody in your party has a drivers licence then you would have to use passports for ID.

I doubt they'll take the citizen card, as most books in the US that show valid ID's don't feature it. A passport or photo driving license will be the only valid ID's for visiting Britons.

yes, if you buy the 7 day park hopper you'll have to show them your i.d. my dad's card didn't read and he had to show him his i.d. (which he left in the car)
