Click-bait title, yes I know. Here is our trip report! I've been a zillion times, but it was my now-fiance's first trip EVER to WDW! So each attraction/dining location we visited will be ranked between 1 star and 5 stars. With me asking her opinion first, so that my opinions don't conflict. I thought it'd be neat to compare between someone who goes all the time (myself) and someone who has never been to WDW in her life (my fiance). So here it goes!
Day 1
We drove from Atlanta, GA all the way to Disney World. We packed a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch for breakfast for the week, so that we didn't have to spend an extra $40 on breakfast every morning. FUN FACT! In the big freezers in the food court at Pop Century Resort, they sell half-gallon milk cartons for like... $3.50. So if you just want to grab some cereal from your grocery store for breakfast, I highly recommend it. We looked around the gift shop waiting for the text that tells us our room is available. We arrived at Pop Century at around 12:00 pm and loitered until 3:00 pm when our hotel was ready. This is where one of the very few downsides of the trip was... Our room was located in the 50's location... Which is cool and all, but our room was at the VERY END... Literally as far away from the entrance on the 50's side as possible... The very end CORNER on the right. On the bright side, I found a parking space literally RIGHT NEXT to our room door.
Continuing on, we got the un-remodeled Pop Century room. Honestly, this wasn't really a downside. It was nice and clean, and I don't really know why the rooms were being refurbished at all to tell you the truth. It was fine! The beds were a bit creaky, but other than that it was nice. I took Sam (my fiance) to Disney Springs after getting settled into our room. She went into MAC and another make-up store and had a fun time putting palates of different colors on her arm. I stood there. She was happy, so I was happy. We went to the World of Disney store, and then we headed back to the hotel. When we got to the hotel I had the awesome idea of getting Sam to ride the steamboat from Magic Kingdom to the TTC, then the monorail to EPCOT. Simply because she wouldn't get to experience those two things otherwise. So we got on a bus to Magic Kingdom. We took the boat from Magic Kingdom to the Transportation and Ticket Center... Then we headed to the monorail that went to EPCOT. The sad part? The monorail was closed, and experience maintenance difficulties (Disney, please for GOD SAKES... MASSIVELY UPGRADE YOUR MONORAIL SYSTEM). So my plan was ruined, and we had to take a bus to EPCOT instead, to get on a bus back to Pop Century. Did not go as planned.
Day 2 -
You know all those websites that say "Get to the busses at 8:00 am! Nobody does it!"? Well, that's only true for EPCOT. HS, MK, and AK all had pretty big lines at the busses starting at 8:00 am. Perhaps this is only at Pop Century, though. Anyways, our first park for the trip was Hollywood Studios! Here's how our day went in order with our own reviews!
The Great Movie Ride (Sam: **** Milner: *****)
This was how we started our day! It was a great last ride for me. Sam ranked the ride 4 out of 5 stars, stating "it would have been 5 stars if we had gotten to see both shoot 'em scenes." We saw the gangster scene, and as the ride moved on, I informed her that theres another scene in the western portion, ect. I, of course, ranked it 5 out of 5 stars. It was a great classic, obviously showing its age, but still wonderful. We also had two great actors! It'll be sad to see it go. This was Sam's favorite attraction at Hollywood Studios.
Beauty and the Beast - Live (Sam: **** Milner: ***)
Sam really enjoyed Beauty and the Beast. She stated that it was a "good rendition of a classic Disney film." Compared to other shows though, she says that it's not worthy of 5 stars. But it's a solid four. Me, seeing the show done ever since I was like, born... I feel like it's tired and worn out. Still good, especially if you've never seen it before, but it's time for a change. 3 out of 5 stars for me.
Voyage of the Little Mermaid (Sam: *** Milner: ***)
Sam said "Voyage of the Little Mermaid had some cool affects, even if they were a little older. However, the show had a really abrupt ending." She ranked it 3 out of 5. I ranked it 3 out of 5, for the same reasons she did, plus the same reason for Beauty and the Beast.
Star Wars Launch Bay (Sam: *** Milner: **)
Next we went to Star Wars Launch Bay, just to fill up some time. Sam wanted to meet BB8. Star Wars Launch Bay delivered.
Frozen Sing-Along Celebration (Sam: *** Milner: **)
Sam enjoyed the two hosts, however she felt like the show was more geared towards little kids. This was the first time BOTH of us experienced this show. I figured since it's been around for quite a while now, it must be alright. It wasn't as BAD as I always thought it would be. I thought the two hosts were hilarious! They were great actors! I wish Disney would have incorporated them into more of a storytelling narration between actual scenes from the movie, in the form of a play. Instead of the sing-along bits. It was just kind of awkward every time a sing-along portion started playing. However, I did find myself getting a bit excited whenever the hosts would start talking again. 3 out of 5 for Sam. 2 out of 5 from me.
Sci-Fi Dine In (Sam: ***** Milner: *****)
We ate lunch at the Sci-Fi Dine In. It was so nice, we had our dining reservations and we were seated immediately! It was cold, dark, and quiet. A great escape from the 95 degree heat outside, and the crowds. The food was very good! We got boneless wings as an appetizer, they were really good! I had the sci-fi special BBQ burger.. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! It was so good! Sam had a turkey sandwich. Service was great! It's always been my favorite dining location at HS, and now I believe it is Sam's favorite choice as well!
Muppet*Vision 3D (Sam: ** Milner: ***)
We were LUCKY! This show closed literally like, two days after we went on it unannounced! Sam ranked it a 2 out of 5 stars, mostly because she can barely remember it now, and the 3D gave her a headache. She enjoyed Statler and Waldorf, they are the only parts of the show she can remember. I ranked it a 3 out of 5. I know the attraction backwards and forwards. Why not a 4 or 5 you may ask? Well, the audio sounds VERY dated. Like, it literally sounds like it was made between the 80's and 90's. It's odd, especially next to attractions with some really good high definition audio. The 3D for this particular attraction also hurt my eyes a bit, from making them go so cross-eyed. I don't know, it felt really dated. Not the concept or show itself, but the technology for the show in general. I don't care for the new entrance, either. I'm a Muppets fan, so it kills me to not be able to give it a higher ranking. I still enjoyed it. It just felt dated.
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular (Sam: ***** Milner: *****)
We then headed over to Indiana Jones! Boy was I excited to see this show! Mainly because last year when I went to see it, it was stormed out. Sam states that this is her favorite stage show out of all 4 parks. She says "It kept you engaged the whole time. The action and stunts were really cool. Even if it wasn't real." This has always been a favorite of mine. I'm secretly hoping that Disney will keep this show, and make an Indiana Jones themed land around it.
Star Wars: Path of the Jedi (Sam: * Milner: *)
Sam: "It was a nice break from the heat, but it was essentially just sitting there watching clips from the movies." My opinion is the same. It's stupid. Lets get something else in there! Even if it's just a meet n' greet! Even THAT would be better than what's already there. 1 out of 5 from both of us.
Olaf Meet n' Greet
Just had to throw this in there. Got our picture with Olaf! Only waited 10 minutes!
ABC Commissary (Sam: **** Milner: ***)
Sam is solely rating ABC Commissary based on the water cup size they gave us, and the strawberry lemonade slushie. The slushie was very good! We both highly recommend getting it! We just came to sit here for a bit out of the heat. I rank this place 3 out of 5, not the most attractive place to sit and eat. But it's convenient.
Star Tours - The Adventures Continue FP+ (Sam: ** Milner: ***)
Sam would have enjoyed this attraction more if it didn't make her nauseated. I always considered Star Tours, even the older version, just kind of average. I'm also not a Star Wars fan by any means at all. It's a fun ride.
Music of Pixar - Live (Sam: ** Milner: **)
Sam: "The orchestra did a really good job... But there really wasn't anything else to it." I have to agree with Sam on this one. It was interesting having a seasonal attraction here. It was a bit of a change and it was a nice break... But... Eh.. I don't personally believe it belongs in a theme park. It feels like it would be better suited somewhere along the streets of Disney Springs for people to come pass by, watch a little bit of it, then continue on their way. Definitely something for more of an older age crowd... We're both 19. It was pretty boring to us. Cool at first, but eventually boring.
Toy Story Mania FP+ (Sam: ***** Milner: *****)
Sam loved the queue line, and she found the attraction very fun! It was one of her favorites. For me, I agree! This attraction is simply just good fun! Lots of fun. That's the only way I can describe it. 5 out of 5 from both of us.
Walt Disney: One Man's Dream (Sam: ***** Milner: *****)
THEY PLAYED THE WALT DISNEY DOCUMENTARY!!! Words cannot EXPRESS how happy this made me! I have not scene this film since I was little! We bypassed the Guardians meet n' greet. Just enjoyed the museum and the film. The film made both Sam and I tear up!
Star Wars Launch Bay (Sam: *** Milner: **)
We went BACK to Star Wars Launch Bay. This time, we watched the film and met Kylo Ren and Chewbacca. Sam ranks this area three out of 5 stars. She can't remember anything from the film. I rank it two out of five. I don't care for Star Wars, but I know the area serves its purpose in a way Star Wars fans will fangirl over.
The Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror FP+ (Sam: * Milner: *****)
Sam only gave it a star because it had cool affects leading up to the drop. Otherwise, she HATED it. Simply because, well, it was a drop zone. I made her go on it, because c'mon! It's AWESOME! You either love it to death, or you hate it because you don't enjoy the drops. 1 star for Sam. 5 stars for me!
Fantasmic! (Sam: **** Milner: **)
Sam: "From what I saw? Four stars." GOD. FREAKING. DANG IT, DISNEY!!!! This is the THIRD time I have attempted to see this show... And it had to be cancelled mid-show AGAIN! It stopped at the scene between the snake and Mickey Mouse. I knew something was up when the snake wasn't moving at all. The lights abruptly turned on, and the good ol' "We hope to continue Fantasmic! in just a few moments" narration began. It was great up until that point, I guess. (It didn't start back up, btw) Thus, the reason I gave it only 2 stars. Because it keeps happening to me. It was supposed to be Sam's first epic introduction to Disney's night-time shows.
