I need your help with proposal ideas!

Ok, so my girlfriend and I are visiting WDW in 10/08. We will be dining at Narcoossee's our first night. I have checked and the Wishes Fireworks will be at 8pm that night.
But I need some feedback on how to propose.

I want to do something unique, so no Cinderella's Table, and no 'middle of mainstreet during the fireworks.'

Here are my ideas so far:

-On a cruise of Seven Seas Lagoon during Wishes. But can I even get a cruise for just two? How would I do this and how much would it cost?

-While watching the fireworks from Narcoossee's. But I'm not super excited about doing it in front of the dinner crowd.

-Finding/arranging a sketch artist at the Grand Floridian to sketch our portrait. I'll tell the artist to draw me proposing. When the artist is finished and shows us the sketch, my girlfriend will be confused/surprised and then I will explain by getting down on one knee... So does anyone know if there are sketch artists available at the Grand Floridian on a regular basis? So I wouldn't have to hire one?

Any help would be great. Thanks!

You could do that one, get it drawn before hand and then do your plan. It'll be sweet!

Good luck on however you propose, KEEP US INFORMED and tell us how it goes:wave:

I love the artist idea!!! Cute. Also, what about seeing if a Disney Dream Squad member can walk up to you as if they are delivering a year of a million dreams prize and it is the ring. while she is preoccupied with the Dream person, you get on your knee. Sure disney will be more than happy to help.

Having a sketch done is so sweet and so romantic, love the idea! Just to throw another idea out there you could go for a carriage ride for 2 around the grounds of the Fort Wilderness at sunset! That could be really initmate and private, aw shucks now I want to get engaged again!

So who's been to the Grand Floridian and/or Narcoossee's?

So I called Guest Relations and found out that there is a sketch artist in the lobby of the Grand Floridian every evening until 11pm.
Has anyone visited the GF before? Is the lobby nice? Would this be a nice place to be proposed to?
We'll be eating at Narc's that evening for dinner. So I'm not sure how to piece the evening together...
Any thoughts?:veryconfu

The Grand Floridian is beautiful, I had my Wedding pictures taken on the grand staircase, just gorgeous. There are many places you could do it, and on most nights there is live music playing. Narcooses is one of my favorite resteraunts, and on the walkway leading there, you can see the Castle in the distance, could be a neat spot to pop the question.

I proposed at the wishing well near the castle. It was very secluded. I like the sketch idea but just thought I'd throw another location out there. Good luck!!!

Ok, so update on plans: who's visited the Boardwalk?

Ok, so here's my proposal:
Nice dinner, a little stroll, then have a caricature done of my girlfriend and I. But unknown to my lucky lady, I have contacted the caricature artist ahead of time and requested a caricature of me proposing with the ring, etc. Once the artist displays the final drawing, my girlfriend will be surprised/excited and then I get down on one knee!!!

Our original plan was dinner at Narcoossee's, but I recently found out that the artist in the lobby of the Grand Floridian is a SKETCH artist, not caricature artist. I was told that the sketch would be a portrait and take too long.

Soooo, now I was told that there is a caricature artist at the Disney Boardwalk every day/night. Can anyone confirm this? If so, I am trying to contact Disney to find out which company has the concession rights (as the caricature artists are not technically Disney employees) so that I can contact the company and artist as the date draws closer.

Can anyone tell me if there is a caricature artist on the Boardwalk? If so, where?

And who's eaten at the Flying Fish Cafe? Thoughts?

Ok, so here's my final proposal plan!!!

So, for those of you reading this long thread, here's my final plan. At least for a while.

Dinner at Narcoossee's, watch the Wishes fireworks from Narc's, stroll down the beach to Polynesian, and have a caricature done with the caricature artist in the Polynesian lobby. Girlfriend thinks that this is a spontaneous caricature, but I now know who the caricature company is, and they've said they love the idea and will work in secret with me. I'll contact the artist before we leave for the trip and establish who I am and our "code word" so he knows its me when we show up. Girlfriend thinks we are getting a nice caricature of us sitting nicely. But then the artist reveals a picture of me proposing, girlfriend is confused/surprised, and then I get down on one knee!
:ROFLOL:

So if anyone would like to put in their two cents on what they thought about eating at Narc's, watching the fireworks from Narc's, what's the beach like, and what is the Polynesian lobby and bar are like, I would greatly appreciate it!!!

I LOVE this idea! And having it at the Poly wouldreally make it unexpected. Like you just "strolled along" and decided to have a caricature out of the blue.
I'm interested... what is your code word going to be? You should probably give him an estamated time as well, so he know's to pay attention. And, just to verify, you may ask for him to respond to your "code word" with one of his own.

Well, I'm hoping that the artist won't be too busy. It will most likely be a weeknight at the beginning of the week, if that helps. Otherwise, if I see that the artist is busy, I'll casually guide us to the lobby bar for a drink, maybe sneak away to the "bathroom" to mention to the artist that we're there, or just wait. But you're right, if the artist has a long line of people waiting for a caricature, then I may have to come up with a plan B.
