ok so the boyfriend & i are going to WDW in the fall, and i want to do a character dining. any ideas? i was thinking about Cinderella's breakfast or the Princess Breakfast but i am afraid that it'll be a whole bunch of kids with their parents and then 2 guys.

what are the crowds at the character dining usually like?

thanks.

Any of the character dining options are going to be a bunch of kids with their parents. We chose based on our favorites characters. I love Pooh & Eeyore so we did Crystal Palace for dinner (pretty good food and great interaction). We both love Micky & Minnie so we also did Chef Mickey's breakfast (food was good but we only got to meet Minnie & Pluto, Mickey & Donald never made it to our table). BTW, we have no kids, but still had a great time!

I think you will get a bunch of kids and their parents at any character meal, so I would go to the ones with your favorite characters and just have a great time. We didn't do any princess ones as I have a 4 year old boy who is not the least bit interested in princesses, but we did quite a few other character meals. Ohana was actually our favorite and that one was just a last minute ADR and we took it because it was one of the only places that had anything available. I am so glad we went because the food was good, the service was great and the character interaction was fantastic! In any event, if you think you would enjoy one of the princess breakfasts, go and don't worry about who the rest of the crowd is - you will have a great time!

Yea its pretty much mostly children/familys. So be prepared for that. With that said, its not that big a deal. Just goto the one you like the best. Chef Mickeys is pretty good....

Ohana and other favorites...

Breakfast at Ohanas might be a good choice. We also love the Crystal Palace breakfast...great food. And this year we're trying 1900 Park Fare for dinner. We've done Akershus breakfast but didn't enjoy the Norwegian food, but the character interaction was a bit more intimate. We also did Tusker House breakfast last October. The food was good, but it's a loud and busy environment.

Character Dining is my fave! Here are my suggestions! I would do Chef Mickey for Breakfast for sure!! You get to see Mickey and all his friends!! Very fun and good bfast food. All meals are always busy at Chef Mickey's. 1900 Park Fare is one of my absolute faves for dinner - good food options and you get to see the step sisters who are hilarious and step mother, along with Prince and Cinderella. The step sisters are hilarous! On another thread, someone posted how when the step mother found out the the two men were together, she tried to sell off the step sisters as housekeepers!!! They are such a great time! If you do CRT, I would do dinner - during fireworks - nothing is more romantic!! And it is a small place. Even though there are kids and families around, my DH and I felt like it was just the two of us when we were there. I think Donald Safari at AK is a fun one for bfast. Crystal Palace is always great - Pooh and Friends - for dinner or bfast. Again, very busy! If you do 1900 Park Fare you will see Mary Poppins, along with Alice and Pooh. I have not done Ohana b/c I can't stand Stictch. If you want the Princesses - a nice one is Akerhaus for bfast - if you do dinner the food is, well, weird!! And Cape May - bfast was good and the characters were very interactive b/c it wasn't very busy. I have not been for dinner but it is a New England Clam Bake. Kind of fun and different! I have never been to Garden Grill but I have heard mixed reviews about it.

I hope this info helps!

My wife and I, along with another couple, went to Chef Mickeys this past OCT, and it went down great. I've been to multiple character meals, and YES, there are always a ton of kids and their parents. But, for the most part, Disney does a good job at keeping people out of the mob mentality. The characters give individual attention to each table, and if you're really worried, I'd possibly ask the CM when you check-in if you could have a less-noisy area.
I would say that CRT or Chef Mickey's seem more friendly for adult-only tables, as Crystal Palace seemed overly playful. It's something I can't really put my finger on, but I felt much more comfortable at the other two, heck, even Norway's Princess Breakfast was more intimate/adult-friendly.
But, in the end, if YOU or YOUR BF want something, remember it's YOUR vacation. Don't get too apprehensive to where it's a buzzkill, or it makes you regret not going somewhere. Have fun.

The thing to tell yourself is...who cares. Every character meal has a lot of kids; so if you want to go you should. You will have a good time as long as you want to and remember that it is a Disney character meal that will have kids. I am sure whatever you choose will be a good time.
