I met Al Weiss at WDW!

Our first day of vacation at WDW in the parks was 10/30/07. We had an early breakfast with Pooh and Pals at CP. We rode lots of rides and got some neat PhotoPass pictures. We were having a great time, but not on schedule at all. We saw evidence of Dream Team pixie dust here and there, but never met up with them. By the time we go around to having lunch, it was about 3pm. We decided to dine at Pecos Bill's Cafe.

I was using a scooter, so I was busy parking it while I sent Gabby inside to place our order using the touch screen kiosks which were totally empty, but there were lines at all of the other registers. As I got off the scooter, I noticed that there were three management type CM's having a discussion close to the kiosks. I also recognized one of them, or at least I thought that I did. So, I asked one of the regular Pecos Bill's CM's that was standing nearby if the man in the blue striped shirt was Al Weiss, and was told, "Yes, that is Mr. Weiss." OMG!

So, I quietly said to Gabby that the man to her left in the blue shirt was Al Weiss. She said, quietly and annoyedly, "Who the heck is Al Weiss?" OMG, I love this woman, but she is so not a Disney geek. I told her that he is the man that runs Disney. She said like the parks, and I told her no, like the whole company. She said, you are going to want a picture aren't you? :hammer: I said DUH! So, with that she cancelled the half placed order and I went over and as politely as possible interupted their conversation.

I introduced myself and Gabby and asked if I could shake his hand. I thanked him for everything that he has done for the company so far. I was as sweet of a geek as I could be and he was just the nicest man. He of course turned it all back on me and Gabby and the guests of the WDW resort and the consumers for helping to make Disney the great company that it is. We got introduced to the man and woman with him. I wish that I had a better memory of their names. Anyone that knows who they are, I would love to know for scrapbook purposes. I believe they both have higher up duties in MK and WDW resort management, but I just can't remember the specifics. Anyway, it was certainly nice to meet the man in charge of the Mouse at present.

I am the geeky one in the brown shirt. I should have made Gabby stand next to the nice lady since she had no clue who Mr. Weiss even was. lol

I didn't meet the Dream Team, but I got a nice picture out of meeting Mr. Weiss. Maggie

Just a small correction, Al Weiss is the president of Disney Parks and Resorts Worldwide Operations, not The Walt Disney Company. Bob Iger is the CEO of TWDC.

I think the man on the far left is Phil Holmes, VP in charge of the Magic Kingdom. I'm not 100% sure since he's making a face and I've only seen him in his staged photographs.
The lady next to you is Erin Wallace, Senior Vice President, WDW Operations.

EDIT: Corrected spelling error in "Holmes".

You are of course correct, but in the context of the conversation, at the time, I meant the parks, not the whole company. I guess I should have made that clearer in the post. Sorry. Gabby knew what I meant. lol

As for the names of the other two "suits", I believe that you are correct. Those names sound right. I certainly appreciate your help. Maggie

OK, on ya left ya got ya Phil Holmes, Vice President of the Magic Kingdom (the big guy). Ta the right, next ta Phil, ya got ya Erin Wallace, Phil's boss, I think her title is Senior VP of Operations for the WDW resort. Her Boss is Meg Crofton (NOT PICTURED) who I think is VP of WDW Resort. And next ta the two "geeks", ya got ya Al Weiss, Meg's boss, who I believe is VP of Parks and Resorts.

Pretty much you have a photo of all the big wigs of the WDW/MK. The only one missing is Meg. Nice photo.

BTW, Phil is not the most photogenic person.

EDIT: oops, Rackman beat me to it.

oh, by the way, sorry for the bad English above. I meant, why WERE they at Pecos Bill's? I haven't seen the new kiosks. I'll go check them out.

I don't know how long those kiosks are going to be there. Honestly, when there are lines 6 people deep at all registers and no one at the kiosks, it's a bit odd. We returned to Pecos Bill's before our trip was done on Saturday a week ago and the kiosks were not working that night. The lines were worse then than on Tuesday too.

It does make you wonder why they were down on Saturday, since they came thru on Tuesday. hmmmmm......

Al is funny. His hair is ALWAYS perfect. We got a picture with him in front of the "Big Al Weiss" sign at Castaway Cay, and it was as windy as could be, yet in the picture his hair is still somehow perfect... scary...

HA HA, I love Phil's face in this picture. That is why I miss working at the MK. Phil is a great guy. I had the opprotunity to talk to him a few times when he was making his rounds though Tomorrowland. It's also funny when we get a warning that he is making his way around, everyone starts making sure their shirts are tucked in, hair straight, and just a bit happier. But overall, he was always a nice guy to me.

One time my assignment was to walk around the park and photograph CM's doing "the basics". For lack of a better word, smiling while performing their duties. I was lamenting the fact that I was having a hard time finding people to smile let alone "go above and beyond", "stay in character and play the part", etc. I happened upon a Tomorrowland CM who was doing great, so I photographed him. I was laughing as I left him and ran into Phil Holmes, who was not smiling, but did say hello to me. Ah, when you can't even get the executives to smile...sigh. But he did say hello to me.
