Well I made my reservation for my august trip.

It was a tough choice...but I decided to return to the Polynesian Resort.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my Where to Stay thread, it really helped in making my decision.

I'm so happy that you made your decision. You said that the Poly was your favorite, so you made the best choice. Are you staying Concierge? I'm going through a similar situation. My daughter is trying to decide where she wants to stay for her birthday in June. First she wanted the Coronado Springs, then she wanted the Beach Club, then she wanted the Caribbean Beach, now she's on a Boardwalk kick. :brick: She's driving me crazy!

Concierge was just to expensive (1956.00) so we took the Standard Garden View. Since the Hawaii Longhouse is going to be closed I wouldn't have spent the money on concierge there. Since the ammenities won't be the same.

Pam

Some resorts do a friend of ours (also a Travel Agent) got an upgrade at the Yacht Club. The people at reservations tell me to ask at Check in since they sometimes do that for agents. Last year we didn't get an upgrade, but hey you never know.

Sometimes they do that too. when we stayed at Port Orleans we got a view of the river (but there the room view isn't a big difference). Whether they give me one or not...I don't really care.

Hope you will have a wonderful trip ! I just wanted to add that when we stayed at the Poly in Oct 2001 we had a standard garden view room as well and i cant remember the name of the building but the wonderful thing about it was that it was located near the TTC so that when we went to Epcot we took the monorail there and the other when going to MK. It was great that we did not have to change monorails when going to Epcot since it was the F+Wine Festival and we were always there ! We always get so tired in the evening ! I think the name of the building was "Rapa Nui" !:)

Congratulations Disney Insider... :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: I know you are excited and the Poly is a great place (We love the coffee there, but lets not go there again  ). I am glad you are getting to go, you will have a great time... I have to wait until the end of the year, but I will get to meet some nice people from these boards, so I can wait...it will be worth it.

Sine the resort isn't too big we like to have the rooms closer to the Great Cermonial House. We were in Samoa last year and it was right in the middle of the resort. So we were fairly close to everything. Then I just walked to the TTC to get to Epcot. The Walk was always very short.

Pam

Probably won't do the Luau. I just don't see dinner being worth the price of theme park admission. I would rather go to Ohana (same food really).

The Poly is my absolute favorite! Our favorite longhouse is the Aotearoa. We were the first room on the left when entering the building from the GCH. The location was perfect for us. We got it at a walk-in rate of $159.00 per nite. We'll probably never see that again:rolleyes:

We are staying in the Poly for the first time at end of March (65 days to go!) We requested a Lagoon view room, what are chances for getting that? Is there one of the longhouses better than another? With one closing for renovations, will we have less of a chance of getting our request?

Any pointers for the Poly? We are doing the character breakfast there on our last day.

I don't know about the room but I can tell you the character breakfast is awesome. I know the guidebooks don't rate it at the top but with kids the family style serving is great and they even have a parade. You will love it.
