Hi all!

I just have to ask...

Eventually I would like to stay at every Disney resort, but I'm hesitant about Port Orleans. I have heard nothing but great things about it, in fact they all seem to love it, but when I look at the pictures, it seems very dark and depressing to me.
Is it really like that? What do you love about it?

Thanks!

I absolutely love POFQ. It's quaint and rustic, quiet and serene. Very beautifully landscaped and short walk from anywhere in the resort to anything you want to get to. It's the only resort I've stayed at twice [trying to get to them all myself].

Haven't been to PORS yet, but will someday. Next two resorts are Beach Club and All Star Sports... Riverside might be 2011.

I have stayed at both and really enjoyed both. However, I would say that i enjoyed French Quarter more. It is much more quaint and compact than Riverside. I also think that FQ is more beautiful than Riverside as well. Riverside can be a little dark at night, but all the walkways are lit very well, but the resort is far from depressing. Just be prepared to walk a bit to the main building. Regardless of which building you are in at FQ, you are no more than a 5 minute walk from the bus or the main building.

POFQ is out resort for every stay. We love that it is very quiet. It is a small resort so you dont get the hustle and bustle of the value resorts. We like how everything is close together and we dont have to walk miles to get to the main building. The boats to DTD are nice in the evening. We also like to stroll along the streets as it starts to get dark. It is a very nice and quiet resort.

POR is not really dark and depressing. It is more relaxing than anything. Things seem to move at a somewhat slower place and you really get to soak up the atmosphere a lot more.

The actual rooms aren't my favorite...I'm not wild about the decor...but I would definitely choose to stay at POR again...simply b/c of how peaceful the place seems to be.

I too love POR as my resort of choice. Its not dark, rather it dosent use the parking lot type lights to illuminate the grounds as they do at the Values.

POR is a great resort. The walk may be a little far, but the ambience is beautiful anytime. There are two distinct styles in the resort. The Bayou part of the resort is "darker" because there are more trees and the areas are much more compact, but it adds to the overall theme. The Plantation part is much more wide open. I personally like the Plantation part better, but the resort on the whole is beautiful. :)
