I also heard that they're building a 5th park and expanding the monorail and adding a Harry Potter attraction to EVERY PARK!

I thought they where going to build Hogwart on this land and have a train connection with all of the parks. Platform 9 and 3 quarters to Hogwarts.

A major issue in my mind is that there is no major interstate that goes to Myrtle Beach. When we traveled there two years ago it was a complete headache to get there. Bumper to Bumper traffic. The existing roads hardly accomidate the crowds Myrtle Beach gets now, any additional traffic that would come fromt the addition of a Disney Park would require a huge overhaul of the area's transportation system.

Not going to happen, especially looking at Thrawn's math.

At least someone read my post.

I guess I'll have to add a flame to every single post I make just so people will read it.

Yeah, I would tend to not believe that Disney just shelled out over $8billion for some land. That'd be quite a hit to the books, and one that would have been reported well before it actually closed. A company the size and stature of Disney simply could not buy up that much land (anymore) and not have anyone notice.

Wishful thinking, but 99.999% sure it's an urban legend.

Someone has got to be pulling you leg....I agree there can't be 22,000 acres that's together available in that area. Even if there was....as Thrawn has shown, this is a hot real estate area...I can't imagine Disney wanting to pay top dollar for that much land and really have no way to get large amounts of people to it.

This makes absolutely no sense.

Given that Myrtle Beach has a total size of 16.8 sq miles and there are 640 acres/sq mi - the city has a land area of 10,752 acres.

So now Disney owns the entire city and an equal amount of unincorporated acreage.

This is going to come as quite a shock to the residents.

Well, let's get to the meat of this.....WHO IS YOUR SOURCE.???

You just cant post your first ever thread in these boards with a huge announcement like that and get away with not spilling ALL the beans. :) :)

Not to mention I think Disney still has alot of room still in Florida that they can do alot with.

Yeah I thinks thats a rumor.
a- too close to wdw for theme park

b- too close to Hilton Head for DVC

c-too much land for ESPN zone

d-That would be a huge amount of money and if it was a major project that required that amount of money than it would have to be in talks and planning for a couple of years since Disney isnt going to just spend that on a drop of a dime so being that someone would have leaked that huge project out already. The days of Disney secretly buying up land under fake companies is long gone-they are too big with too many peoples hand in the cookie jar.

That was the first thing I noticed about the OP.

As for traffic - they do now have the bypass which has been open a couple of years, but it's still a mess. We live about 4 hours from MB and avoid it like the plague. So commercial, so hard to get down Kings Highway, and so overpriced. We've found we can spend a week at WDW or a week at MB for about the same price. Not a tough decision for my family...

I do believe that the OP is pulling our leg, as he has not been back on these boards since posting that rubbish.

I suggest we have Steve get his IP address and see if this is a sock-puppet !! Then string him up !
