When you go back to WDW each time what is it that tells you “I’m really back”? Not a ride, but something either visual, audible, etc.

For instance when I went back to WDW on my honeymoon 10 years ago, it was the first time back for me in almost 10 years. I got a tingly feeling when entering the Magic Kingdom going under the Train Station and seeing the attraction posters, especially the Haunted Mansion poster because it is my favorite ride. It was then that I really felt like a kid entering the Magic Kingdom again. Saying to myself, "I am really here".

I always loved looking at the posters.

What is it for you that gives you that feeling?

I would have called this post "When Do You Feel You Are Really Back?". Anyways, I get the feeling I am really back when I go to Downtown Disney on the bus. We usually go the first night we arrive, and so I have just associated it with the feeling of, "I'm back!". We always eat at the McDonalds, and always spend alot of time in the Virgin Megastore, but really don't spend too much time in the other stores because we save them for another night. It's always night time and everything is lit up and loud.

All I have to do is get a park map, go to the hotel gift shop, hear atmosphere music piped through hidden speekers, and see a WDW bus. Those things equate in my mind that I'm at WDW

Seeing a monorail! That always does it for sure.

But somehow the whole check in process of waiting in line and talking to the CM and getting our room key/park tickets is what flips the switch in my head that says you're on vacation at DisneyWorld

I have to agree with wdwhoneymooner. Seeing those signs as we drive onto property give me that feeling of finally being there. Beyond that it's the first sight of the castle.

The flight times of the airline I use mean that I always arrive early evening. After checking in, I get the bus to Epcot. Walking towards the entrance, its dark, you can see SE and hear the atmosphere music. I always think that is a great feeling.

I gotcha ALL beat!

I get that "YESSSSS... I'm finally here" feeling when I get on the monorail that takes you to the baggage claim area at the Orlando Airport.

The voice in THAT monorail is the same as the Disney World Monorail...and it makes me really happy to hear it!:D

The first moment I pass from public property to Disney-owned land, I usually give thanks. And the monorail ride to the MK entrance is still spine-tingling. I love all the parks and resorts. They've each got something to offer.

One day, when my daughter is in college and my wife has quit her job, I'm going to spend 365 straight days at the parks. And I'm going to write a book and call it "A Year at Disney World." And in this book I will point out everything that makes Disney theme parks special, from the CMs who hand out the occasional free FASTPASS to the gold leaf on top of the Eiffel Tower that no one will ever see. And Illuminations better still be playing.

That use to be it for me. But, now it is not. I think it is because they are different than they use to be. When I was a kid, I remeber being in a car with my family and pulling up to the gates and I think there were only two lanes. At the top of each booth there was the old WDW logo (Globe with ears). Not sure if this was the main entrance or what. I was little. Maybe I dreamt it up, who knows? :veryconfu

Great topic!

Lets see, probably walkin into each park. Like you said....walking in and under the Train Station. And then going until you see the castle......it's so awesome. I love WDW! :) And can't wait till my next trip!
