I woke up this morning to a email from Disney. It was a pin offer. I bit the dust and immediately booked. I am heading to the all star music for 5 nights/6 days (weekdays) for less than $310 in January. It was the perfect pick me up and a great Christmas present to myself.

I am a passholder and look forward to trying out the magic band and reserving rides. This way i can make my own judgments about this system. Disneyworld here i come....

I will be there in February solo. I still have several days left on a no expiration pass that I want to use. Got a discounted room-only ressie at POP and a great deal on airfare from Southwest, so the whole trip is costing me hardly anything.

I'm skeptical about MM+ , especially the FP component. I loved the old FP system. But I need to try the whole system out myself so I'll know for sure. I will say that the last two times I've been to the World I was disappointed. Lots of ride breakdown incidents and maintenance issues. This is the first trip I've planned that I've not been all that excited about but I'm still determined to keep an open mind and appreciate the things that Disney still does right.

There's gotta be at least some of that magic still around.

You and I are in the same boat. I have a southwest voucher from last year that is about to expire so that voucher paid for my airline ticket From Indianapolis. and I am also going solo. I share your sentiment about the magic, its going away. I used to be extremely excited about Disney vacations but so much has changed that its hard to be excited I i used to be. Nonetheless, I am excited to leave the frigid Midwest and head to Florida for a few days. it will be exciting to have the magic band. Now I need to loose 10lbs lol.

Yep. It's funny.... I'm headed to Fla this time mostly to get away from work and winter for a bit. But using disney as an excuse. So opposite of how I used to do things!

I have no problem with MagicBands/MyMagic+, I just hate the way they have messed up FastPass, it was perfect and didn't need changing. I now have the stress of having to plan my entire vacation 60 days out and then when we are there have to plan every day around the Fastpass options we had selected 60 days previous. A lot of unnecessary stress and hassle.

I am already playing around with the FP+ site making selections. I can see how this can be very exciting to those who have never been to WDW. However, their time selections are terrible and it does not account for leaving the park or spending a half day at a park. Their time suggestions are all over the place. But I will keep playing around with this.

I think I've discovered what Magic really is .. shhhh ... here is the secret ... it's ... perceived value. Doesn't it seem like everyone that is positive about Disney these days are the people that "got a good deal"? :)

LOL Had they not gave me a price below $400 for my room I was going to stay negative. But when I heard $55 per night I near about jumped out the window, LOL

Hmm... While I LOVED my trip a few weeks ago, would I have loved it as much without the free dining plan offer? Well, I got my picture taken with Indy and got to perform on the American Idol Experience, so yeah probably. The free dining plan was just gravy over an already scrumptious meal. Delicious gravy.

Not sure you are aware, but you are able to change all the times to whatever you want. You don't have to stick to the times or spacing it initially gives you.

Thank you so much. I only saw the options at the top of the page. I now see you can adjust and select new times.

I think they shoud have only added the up to 5 days before the trip or less.
a la Tickets of Planes.
so they dont end hogging the FP of certain days just to cancel in the last minute.

this is like the old dining reseration system when you could make multiple ressies then cancel last minute or not show up. This new fp system assumes that if a party cancels their vacation, then they will also cancel their fp selections (maybe it does it automatically?). I will say so far, I am impressed with the selections and the ability to select specific times.

I want to go back, but I don't want to step into the MK just yet. I realize that I all of my bad experiences this past trip were in that park for the most part.
Strange, but we had the same experience, it was a combination of things but mainy we noticed a lot of negativity from CM's and some problems people were having with Magic Bands ... aslo seemed like a lot of hostility in the air from people ... These were just our personal observations of course.

I have mentioned in a few other postings that I think with the implementation of FP+ it forces everyone from top - down (management) as well as guests to be on their Ps and Qs. I understand that FP+ is to reduce stress for all but all the CM level - I can only imagine the amount of complaints and clueless guests they are encountering. And for the guest who has no idea what FP+ - this adds stress trying to understand a system that is brand new that is not 100%. A disney vacation has always been stressfree - you can arrive when you felt like it; eat when you wanted to; relax when you wanted to. But now guests are tied to computers and cell phones in the park updating their selections and stressing over making it to their next reservation. Furthermore, in the past a disney vacation (at least for me) meant turning the cell phone off and fully immersing myself in disney magic 24/7. But since the rollout this year - I have found myself glued to my phone while in the parks and stressing over the little things. I can only imagine what its like for a elderly couple who travels to WDW for a stress free relaxing vacation and here they get magicbands and told they need to sit at a computer and reserve spots to get on a ride. lol. But that is our new age of disney.
