I have actually printed out a paper copy of an excel spreadsheet I made with our dining & Fast Pass + reservations. The last time we tried to use our cell phones in the parks (even with an upgraded US data plan - we're Canadians, btw), we came home to a $1,500 bill. Not joking.

I'm not clear on what you do if you can't use a cell phone? There must be kiosks, I'm guessing? It just seems an unfair "advantage" to those who can use cell phones. I don't know of any Canadian mobile provider that doesn't consider going to the USA as "roaming" and charges accordingly.

the other way is force your cell phone to disable data roaming and just use WIFI spots.

Yes, there are several kiosks were you can make adjustments.

We did that 90% of the time when we were there last Oct. I don't know what happened. Canadian providers are ridiculous, though. They gave us $25 off the bill as an apology.
I dont think the problem are the canadian providers.
they have no control over the charges the Telco companies of USA charges them for using their towers as roaming.

Not sure you are aware, but you are able to change all the times to whatever you want. You don't have to stick to the times or spacing it initially gives you.
Ditto, I picked the group of times that seemed best, then went back to each one and changed the times. I want to be there at open and evenings but return to the resort midday.

I'm more referring to the fact that it costs us $200 a month just to have cell phones in Canada, compared to 15 pounds a month when we lived in the UK. There is no competitive market here - you'll find most Canadians will complain about this if you ask them - and the big 3 companies will charge Canadians whatever they think they can get away with. But that's another story altogether.

This is another great point that I doubt WDW has addressed and you may want to contact them with this. For international visitors - you are binded to the kioks which are spaced out throughout the property. So that puts them at disadvantage. This whole thing is just bad

ahh I see!

Know the feeling.. 3 companies in Mexico as well..
phones cost up to 3X times the retail price in the US.
You want a Galaxy S4? It will set you down 1200 USD in Mexican pesos (aprox 14,500 pesos)
a galaxy note 3? 1600USD! (18,000 pesos), and that is PLUS the telco plan cost.

I am already playing around with the FP+ site making selections. I can see how this can be very exciting to those who have never been to WDW. However, their time selections are terrible and it does not account for leaving the park or spending a half day at a park. Their time suggestions are all over the place. But I will keep playing around with this.

Agreed. I made my selections, but if we are busy doing something else, we may not use them.

You and I are in the same boat. I have a southwest voucher from last year that is about to expire so that voucher paid for my airline ticket From Indianapolis. and I am also going solo. I share your sentiment about the magic, its going away. I used to be extremely excited about Disney vacations but so much has changed that its hard to be excited I i used to be. Nonetheless, I am excited to leave the frigid Midwest and head to Florida for a few days. it will be exciting to have the magic band. Now I need to loose 10lbs lol.

We have vouchers from last year that we could use, but the stupid airline now wants a 200 dollar change fee plus the difference of the cost now per ticket, but the tickets only cost 170 each round trip. It is actually cheaper to just buy new tickets!!!

Wow, that's a great deal.

I know. I still can not believe it myself.

What airline are you flying? My $200 voucher (I volunteered for a later flight) are from Southwest - they expire December 20th but my trip to Disney isnt until January 12. I had read on other boards that once they expire - you loose the credit or you have to pay a $75 fee. I called Southwest Thanksgiving Eve - and a woman answered and explained that I would not be able to use my credit before the deadline - she put me on hold 20 mins then she said my credit would be extended free of change for 6 months. I know other airlines are very strict with their credits.

Cant you just purchase in advance and use the voucher online?

last time I went, I used my voucher to book 6 months in advance..
Granted; this was Continental before the United merger.
