I fell departing Splash Mountain at the end of May and broke my left ankle in two places, spiraled the bone in a third. The ride was shut down for a few minutes until I could get moved out of the way, but reopened as soon as I was out of the thoroughfare. While waiting for the EMTs, several park employees, and I vaguely remember one being the GM of MK, asked me questions and wrote down information such as name, address, etc. I was told they would be in touch with me the following week, but I've never heard anything further. Still in a cast and a wheelchair so I won't be able to make the AP preview of MS in August, but I'm planning on walking around for the Food and Wine Festival the end of October.

No one was injured during the evacuations this week.

And the idea of nobody dying at WDW is partially true, at least it used to be. The procedure was for any victim to be pronounced dead only when the ambulance has left Disney property.

At least that's the way it was a few years back.

What about that Splash Mountain incident where the guy jumped out of the boat and got run over by the next one? Didn't he die? But you're right, it is the happiest place on Earth.:)

I got hurt once, I was walking down Main St. and the park was closing. This lady must have wacked me about 100 times on the back of my ankle with her stroller. Talk about pain and suffering, I now fear strollers.

Yes, he was killed. However, he was not pronounced dead until he was off property. Therefore, he did not die at Disney.

from what CMs tell me you are not presume dead until off the property. I guess in June 2001, someone had a heart attack and died on the Great Movie Ride and wasn't prenounced dead till they were off site. Of course the CM thought it was a little bit funny because you can't get a much tamer ride than that.

yeah, the GM was probably noting if you were angry or not and noting whether or not he thought you would sue. I garauntee you, if he thought you were a risk to sue, you would have had lifetime passes and various other things and im sure they WOULD have gotten in contact with you.

That's typical with ANY situation.

So the rule of thumb here? if you get hurt, rant and rave and scare them. They'll call you for sure. Im just joking! Don't do that.! That would hurt WDW, our beloved escape from reality.

I've heard about what you guys are talking about. My sister's friends were in line for SM when that whole thing happened when the guy got out of the boat. I've heard that no one is pronounced dead until off property. I got hurt a few times at WDW. But nothing major. Mostly scrapes. But I did twist my ankle at MGM once. The curbs on part of New York Street were a lot taller than I thought. And I kind of fell of it and landed on one of those gutter things. It hurt pretty bad. But it was my fault , lol :hammer:

Fortuantely I have never been hurt at WDW.

I have seen once again, however, evidence that the English Language is still suffering....

YIKES!!!

I got a seat belt bruise from Test Track when we came to a screeching hault at about 40 mph on the high speed loop. Always a little hesitant to go on rides for soft openings put I did Mission Space anyway first day it opened haha.

I'm no expert, but I'm fairly certain that none have ever been enjerd at any WDW facility or for that matter anywhere on the planet.

I'd have to agree with BRER STITCH this is a massacre!

Thanks for this. I was looking for a kind way to say something, but couldn't, so I was keeping my mouth shut.

I may be mistaken, but I think that only a state licensed doctor or ME can "legally" pronounce someone dead, so unless he/she happens to be called to the scene, the patient is not "officially" dead until reaching the ER/morgue. If there is ANY chance of surviving, (however remote) the patient still has to be transported to a medical facility. (I would prefer not to elaborate; suffice to say that some people have lived , at least for a while, with unbelievable injuries.)
