WHAT?!! Macbeth is amazing! How could it put you to sleep? It's murder, greed, mayhem and a porter ing on the wall of the castle! It's Shakespeare's most narrowly-focused, tightly-plotted productions.... And it's got witches! Why didn't you ask me for help? There's no excuse for this! I teach Macbeth! You didn't even ask for extra help....and I'm here when you're here! You didn't even have to miss the darn bus! You could have had an A+, for crying out loud! My kids last year thought Macbeth was the best part of my English class! How could you let this happen? And with colleges seeing this! I can't believe this.... What were you thinking?  :( ;)

DJ, first of all, saying you've always been a "B student" in English is a cop out. You and I both know you're a smart kid who doesn't put much effort into his English homework--and as a result, coasts by on a "B." I'm not buying that crap--buckle down! Get your mind right! Study!

Second, uh, DJ.... Shakespeare IS modern English.... Go back and check Chaucer's Canterbury Tales (I think you're using the Prentice Hall text--it has the first section of the prologue in the original middle English and then in the modern translation). Lazy, lazy, lazy! Understanding Shakespeare is easy if you practice....

GRRRR...

Errrr!!! You sound like a teacher! :p

I prefer J. R. R. Tolkien over Shakespeare any day!

Only if they would let us read what we want and then take tests on that! You would see a drastic improvement in everyones grades!

Duh!

Um, I think the special ed students in my other school studied Tolkien... not much of a fan, myself. I like Harry Potter quite a little bit, though...

Yeah, right....just let you read what you choose... so slacker boys like you can pick things that don't challenge your vocabulary, ideas, critical thinking skills or reading ability.... I think you should be allowed some self-selection, but I don't think high school students (based on my own experience) will make wise enough choices for the rest of their lives. Ever heard of cultural literacy?

I'm ofended!! I love Tolkien!!

Special ed my .....

I don't take in what I'm reading unless I enjoy it. I read every Tolkien book I own over and over b/c I enjoy it so much.
I do what I have to do to get by in English and things are going to stay that way.

Please no more lecturing Mighty! I'm old enough to know what I have to do. I don't think recieveing a B in English class will ruing my chances of getting into college. I'm happy with my report card the way it is. This is the first time I've ever seen so many A's. Where there used to be C's and B's there are A's!!! For English theres an 82 where there used to be an 80...thats enough improvment for me. I'm really happy with the way things are going for me right now. I'm confident I will be accepted to the college of my choice espescially w/ all the suport from my mom and espescially my art teacher and alot of you guys here at wdw magic . Lecturing me only makes me feel bad about something I feel great about.

Mighty I know I've said derogatory things about Shakespeares writing but I was kidding you know. He's obviously knew what he was doing and I did particularly enjoy Macbeth. Telling me that the special ed kids were reading Tolkien only makes me feel stupid. I've read and re-read every liine of every book of his that has been published and enjoy every bit of it.

You're entitled to your opinion of Tolkien but the special ed thing was a low blow. :(
