My next trip to WDW is October 23 (VWL).

Nikon announced the new Nikon D7000 DSLR a month ago that I pre-ordered via Amazon. However, Amazon was projecting delivery in mid-November.

I dropped by Best Buy today, and they received a shipment of just two D7000's yesterday, and they sold me one today (even though the camera doesn't officially go on sale until Oct 17).

I'm stoked! I get to use my new camera for my VWL trip! :sohappy:

Way cool!!!! Enjoy it and we want to see the pictures when you return. I am just starting to look into a DSLR camera....we bake cakes and i need a better camera...so I am very jealous.

Congrats and I'm super jealous! I am trying to decide between getting a D7000 or waiting until the inevitable price drop of the D90. Either would be a major upgrade from my D40x but Im not sure if I will be able to justify spending probably close to double. After seeing the specs, the only thing that really sparks my interest in the D7000 (vs. the D90) is the higher ISO and higher FPS.

Maybe I will just wait until after christmas when everyone who gets a D7000 is selling their D90 and get one REALLY cheap :ROFLOL:

Congrats! I just got mine about three weeks ago and will be taking it along to WDW in a couple weeks -- the photos look amazing, and I am finding I haven't used my D700 in the three weeks I have had the d7000 and I am getting virtually identical results at less than half the weight--

As to the stock lens -- it is actually quite good on the D7000 -- before we get into lens debates, I will just reiterate my observations that good photography is about the photographer, not the lenses or the camera.

I would have went body only, stock lenses are soooo bad!

I haven't yet used the 18-105mm kit lens it came with.

I'm doing most of my shooting with the 16-85mm, my new 10-24mm and the 35mm f/1.8. These three tend to get used the most.

I still have to find a reason to try out the 18-105mm.

Incidently, I never even took the 18-105 out of the D7000 kit box -- it'll stay there for resale a year down the road when the next great thing comes along...

The kit was the only way to even get the camera (now too) everyone is sold out and backordered to February/March...

10mm! nice... super wide, do you get a lot of complex barrell distortion?
