I feel like Epcot does not have enough "future" rides.

Considering we do have so many technological advances now, I think that Future World probably does need to go a bit more into the sci-fi realm. Not so much to the point of being more fantasy than anything else but maybe with many things that people of the past did think we would have had by now (yes, maybe even Jetson's type stuff).

Hello all, this is my first post on these forums!

As a 22 year old young man, what's left of Epcot's past is ironically nostalgic to me. I haven't been to the park in three years. But From the last time I went, I must say it seems little has changed. The update to Spaceship Earth actually disappointed me. The original narrative was better than the new one. I do enjoy what they have done to the aquarium to incorporate nemo. I have yet to ride the updated Test Track.

Mission Space is I believe a step in the right direction for the park. We need to ask ourselves what the future (being the next 20-50 years) holds for the world? Some of these things include: Genetic Research, Space Exploration, Alternative Sources of energy. We need to let go of some of the nostalgia of some of these older rides and move forward.

A lot of emphasis is put on Animal Kingdom for showcasing such a great array of animals from around the world. Well it would be cool if Epcot showcased things such as moonrocks, prototype hydrogen cars, maybe pieces of space shuttles, a live cam of the international space station. Just modern to things we call the future in 2014.

Another thing maybe including Star Wars at this park's future world. As long as it doesn't become "Star Wars World", having a ride or something would not necessarilly be a bad idea.

The only concept I can think of for a futuristic ride would be this:
wall-e.jpg

But there's already something similar to that available for rent at the front of the parks.

Ha!

Even though you weren't serious, a 3D Wall-E ride would actually be a fun childrens ride (along the lines of what dispicable me is at Universal). But I could also see that in Tomorrowland.

And the worst part is, some people rent them JUST so they can get into the front of lines faster!

WDW should take all of Future World and hand it over to Bill Nye and Neil DeGrasse Tyson accompanied by Seth MacFarlane and the rest of the producers of the remake of Cosmos. These are people who know how to make science interesting, they're the ones who can create a vision of the future that is optimistic, realistic and fun. And then, for good measure, ask the nations involved in World Showcase to let Michael Palin & Terry Jones act as consultants to create more entertaining offerings. Palin's travel series are amongst the best and most entertaining ever produced and Jones is a well respected and captivating historian, AND they're Monty Python alum, they are men who can look at the nations of the world and their histories and their cultures and present each of them in fascinating ways that'll leave audiences hungry for more.

The biggest problem with Future World is that technology advances faster than it could have been imagined when EPCOT was built. As a result, WDW can create a brilliant captivating vision of the future, and by the time it's built, chunks of it already seem antiquated and obsolete. Think about your phone, aka that thing many of us use to read and write on these forums. Remember 30 years ago when only doctors, politicians and spies walked around with phones? They were roughly the size of a brick, except the powerful ones, THOSE came in a pouch, and Maxwell Smart's which came in his shoe. The idea that you could look up any nugget of information ever recorded, play games, listen to music, watch movies or tv shows, look at the people you were talking to? That was still science fiction. The phone I own now is faster, with a bigger memory and better display than my first computer 15 years ago. Trite phrase, but the future happens faster now. And it's hard for the physical world to keep up with it.

I see why they ruined Future World now... If Future World were updated to meet todays vision of the future, Future World would have been a total socialist haven by now.
