I feel bad for whoever is at 180 days today...

I got the email bright and early this morning about Free Dining. So, what do I do? Well, apparently along with everyone else in the world, I call Disney this morning to apply the promotion. I called twice and got a message that all lines were busy. I called back and have now been on hold 3 different times, each over 20 minutes - now I'm on hold again and am fast approaching the 30 minute mark. The only reason I don't mind is I feel like I'm there when they play the music ("Americaaaaa Spread your golden wings...) :)

But...I feel so sorry for anyone who is trying to make dining reservations today! I've never thought of this before, but maybe, for their sake, dining reservations are a separate answering service? I'd be so mad right now if I was trying to make dining reservations and couldn't get through!

On days like this, the reservation center is in an "all hands on deck" state, everyone is called in to support the phones. They have most cross-trained to support room reservations and dining.

My team of agents is also calling in to make reservation changes as well as dining changes for our clients - and we have hold times too.

The volume is just too great.

Well...I finally got in! I was surprised about how "chatty" the cast-member actually was! When she originally answered, she asked what she could help with and I said "Well...I bet I'm like the millionth person to ask this, but I'd like to apply the Free Dining discount to my reservation." So, she knew I knew they were slammed. But, she just kept asking me about whether I liked WL and if I need to change any of my dining around, if my kids were excited (who was excited more, kids or parents), etc. etc. I didn't mind talking at all, but I figured she'd be like "okay. we're done here. have a magical day. take the survey. bye." But, nope. Had I not said something, you'd have never known they were getting slammed by her demeanor! Well trained!

Happy to have gotten a pin for room discount for that time. It is still cheaper than free dining, so all good. Obviously, they needed to fill rooms so now it will be stupid crowded instead of like it used to be during Sept. I know, I know, I can't have the parks to myself.....:(

We were very lucky. As soon as I got notice on WDW Magic that free dining was happening, my wife and I got together and decided what we wanted. The call went right through and all the ADR's all were made as we wanted. I was afraid if we waited we would have a difficult time because of the rush of calls once the news got out.
