I don't get all the hoopla over Ohana.

We have loved 'Ohana for years, but we had a disappointing experience last year.

It was our 20th wedding anniversary and we had a reservation at 'Ohana for 9.45. We were advised to get there early, so we were there by 9.15. At 10.30, we were still waiting to go in. We felt that it was getting too late for a big meal so we decided to cancel and get something light instead. The Kona Café had finished serving, so we spent our 20th anniversary eating at Captain Cook's. :(

'Ohana we always wait at least 30-45 min. (With a reservation) to be seated every single time we go that's the norm for them most nights so even if we have a late reservation (we often eat/schedule it after 9pm) we wait and expect to wait. Sorry you didn't have a great experience due to the wait. :(

I didn't expect the wait time, we missed Jedi training sign ups bc I didn't plan enough time for breakfast.

Crystal palace dinner was a long wait for dinner too last time. It's annoying when that happens but I guess you can't put people on a time limit

The Poly is a beautiful place to be on your anniversary.. I'm sorry things didn't go as planned :(

I live in New Orleans, 10min from the French Quarter which also means I'm surrounded by world class restaurants, cuisine and very well known Chefs. With that said, I've had some down right awful experiences at some of these famous places. I'm not making excuses or caught up in the pixie dust im just saying things happen. I can say I've never left a restaurant at Disney not satisfied though. I've been lucky I guess.

I went to Ohana for the first time on my last trip last year and my family loved it! The food, the atmosphere, and our server were all great. I'm trying to get an ADR for my trip this time but it's fully booked for when I go in November. I'll keep trying! Hopefully if it's like I remember it, my boyfriend will love it too! I also have a reservation at Boma (I've never been) for dinner but I'm not sure if I should keep it. I keep hearing mixed reviews.
Keep your reservation at Bomo, I feel it's always best to experience something first hand then to just take others opinions on it.

Since you wrote restaurants and not 'Ohana, here is a night and day example just in 6 months time at TaF:

I grow tired off the "off night" excuses. Either I have the worst luck and most of my Disney dining experiences happen during these fabled nights OR Disney dining may just not be as good as it was 3-5 years ago. Now, I'll say that places like Sanaa, Jiko, Il Mulino, The Wave, and several others are still pretty amazing but I also feel the places that have been fan favorites are often viewed though some nostalgic tinted glasses and Disney knows this.

I'm not saying that you didn't have a bad experience, but I think my "tinted glasses" are probably on.

1. I don't expect gourmet food at Disney. I just want it to be hot and good. - and have never been disappointed on that front.

2. Now I choose restaurants based on what my child wants while in Disney.

3. We're either meeting/ waiting for characters while dining at Disney.. Or- talking about our day. In either scenario there is way too much excitement then to really focus on the food.

Maybe I've always been lucky, or maybe I'm just too caught up in talking with the rest of my party that I don't notice any negatives.lol. So I could be unintentionally wearing glasses ;) Trust me, I like food, and I love a nice restaurant, I just don't go to Disney expecting same quality as a lot of other places that I go, and I feel like maybe a lot of people are expecting a lot and then get let down.

I'm genuinely glad you've not noticed a negative food experience in the bubble. I wish I could experience more of that myself!

Or a lot of people know how good disney food was 5+ years ago and know they are letting things slip in the name of maximizing profits at the expense of nostalgia.
