I always get confused when people say they had a bad breakfast here. It's eggs, meat, mickey waffles. Were their eggs under cooked and waffles burnt? I'll say for us- the food is what we are least paying attention to.. I mean we're there for Stitch! It's an adorable character breakfast well worth the money- my 2cents.I went in June for the character breakfast and overall I was very pleased, except with the wait-it took an hour to get seated and that was with a reservation. But when I saw how much care they put in to making sure we got our moments with all the characters I was fine with it. Our server was wonderful and very attentive. I enjoyed the food, I don't think it was particularly outstanding, but it was good and there was lots of it. I thought the juice was phenomenal though, just delicious. I thought the setting was fantastic, with the Brady Bunch House meets Tiki Room Aesthetics of the whole resort and the breathtaking views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and the Magic Kingdom.
Any restaurant anywhere can have a bad night. The "hoopla" is there because 'Ohana has consistently been a fine and fun place to dine. I've had many meals there, and my only problem has been filling up too much on the appetizers and not leaving enough room for the meats.
On a related note, I've never understood the "hoopla" over zebra domes. They're OK, but nothing to freak out about. But a lot of people do, so I'm in the minority on that one.
I don't get the ''hoopla'' over the beignets
I don't get the ''hoopla'' over the beignets
I'm from New Orleans so I don't even bother, lol.
Exactly but we did try them to be fair and well they are tasty for what they are but they are definately not a true beignet!! I'll stick with Coffee Call in BR or Cafe' Du Monde in New Orleans and BR. Lol Speaking of I am craving some. We have a few in Lafayette but still not as good as in BR or NOLA.
Now I want some too! We were going to stop at Cafe' Du Monde coming home from a concert the other night but we were too tired. Now I'm wishing we stopped! Might go later, lol.
Anyway, I'm stilling trying to get reservations at Ohana for November (hoopla aside, I've had a good experience there).
My family and I ate there recently and it was horrible. There were little flies all over the place, the meats were undercooked and, frankly, were not even very good quality IMO. I should have known better given that a friend of mine got food poisoning from the place a couple of months ago but I figured I would try it out for myself. Won't make that mistake again.
I know you put it in your post correctly, but I still have to say it. It is 'Ohana. Not O'Hana or O'Hanas - its a crappy polynesian restaruant, not an Irish bar.
Geeze, if an 11 year old kid can tell that your restaruant has slipped, thats pretty bad.
I'm sorry that happened. The last time I was there was this past September. Good was great! Service was good.I know you put it in your post correctly, but I still have to say it. It is 'Ohana. Not O'Hana or O'Hanas - its a crappy polynesian restaruant, not an Irish bar.
Anyhow, I agree. It has gone downhill. Way downhill. The food, especially the grilled items, are just not that good. It used to a be a once a trip place for us. The last time we went (a few years ago), it was just bad all around. Over cooked or undercooked meats, buffet quality sides, and rushed service. So much so, that my then 11 year old daughter said to me, as we like "Dad, we don't need to come here anymore." Geeze, if an 11 year old kid can tell that your restaruant has slipped, thats pretty bad.
Since you wrote restaurants and not 'Ohana, here is a night and day example just in 6 months time at TaF:I have no complaints about 2015, so can anyone who's been recently, as well as in 2015, tell me if they notice a difference in food at restaurants? I'm really curious.
