I am convinced...there are no mosquitos at Disney

In all the years that I have gone I have never seen a mosquito, a nat or a fly. How does Disney keep the bugs away? I could have sworn I heard once that they had a system that emitted a noise that kept bugs away. Is this true or have I just been lucky or blind.

Go stand out on one of the resort docks at night with bare legs and see if you think the same thing when you get back to your resort.

I had a gazillion bites all around the tops of my socks one night after waiting for the boat back to WL. I got eaten alive waiting out on the Contemporary dock.

I've spent my fair share of days evenings around the lakes and lagoons of WDW, in June and August, and have never been bit, nor have seen a mosquito. I guess I'm in the minority.

Here in SW Florida, around 3 and a half hours away from the world, I've noticed mosquitos slowly appearing from early to late August and now I rarely see them. We haven't got any in a while, so it was quite strange when we did recently. I think it's just the pest control doing a great job, otherwise Florida would be covered because of all the rainfall this summer.

I have often remarked that I wondered where all the bugs are at Disney. We live in Florida - 1 1/2 hours south of Disney - and the mosquitoes are definitely out starting at dusk all summer long. But not in Disney that I've ever found. Very mysterious.

I believe there is a significant amount of spraying done by Disney throughout the property in the early early hours of the morning.

Maybe not misquitoes... but those flying ant things are bad.
I got bit by one once and my WHOLE ARM started stinging.
My sister and I went to first aid, the whole way her screaming "MOVE IT! INJURED WOMAN!" while I cried because my entire arm was on fire.

This is the truth. Disney sprays and makes sure water is constantly turning to prevent hatching of larva. Obviously they can't get everywhere, but they cut down the risk significantly.

I got bit on the arm by some crazy looking winged thing while on the Jungle cruise. A hard bump raised up and it didn't go away for almost two weeks. It was very painful the first 2 days.

We have always commented on 'how do they keep the bugs away' while there.. guess we've just been lucky - but never been bitten or really even seen any mosquitos, etc.. we are usually there late May..

There aren't really that many mosquitos around central Florida in general.

You have got to be kidding me! Please tell me you're joking. I merely walk outside my house and have mosquitos swarming my legs. When we go out for our nightly walks, if I don't spray my arms and legs I wind up with at least 5-10 bites. They also follow you inside the house, and continue their harassment there. And if it's not the mosquitos, it's the deer flies - their bites are 10 times worse. And yes, I've been bitten quite a lot on property as well.

Florida has a tropical climate - there are mosquitos everywhere, including Disney property.

Moxquitos at Disney

Sorry to all those who have been bitten. I have read that some people give off a repellent type "smell" that bugs don't like. It's in your blood (thats what I heard). So, maybe I have just gotten lucky.
