We were at the Paddocks last year and did not enjoy the location. It would have been much better if we had a room overlooking DTD, but as we found out that is difficult to get. We also discovered the 11 month window is very important to get the resort of choice. We tried reserving BCV and BW 7 months out (off season) but was only placed on a waiting list. We didn't realize how big SSR was going to be at the time we purchased.
Hind sight, we would have purchased at the BC. We like their pool and location much better.
Our only concern now is the announcement of the next DVC. If it is at a premium location, I am concerned that SSR will be difficult to sell.
You make it sound like buying into the SSR is like buying a Yugo. You'll be able to resell, and the resell value will still be decent, if for no other reason then the fact that people whose home resort is SSR get to use them at least 9 years longer then all the current other resorts.
