hurt at water park

Anyone else ever get hurt at the disney waterparks. Daughter got hurt on the first slide she went on. I blame the attendant for that mishap. It was a single rider slide and she sent 3 separate riders down too close together.
We spent the rest of the day in the wave pool because my daughter was too scared to continue on the slides. It was an awesome wave pool and my daughter had a blast but I have to say I was a bit concerned for her safety. It was really rough! She is only 6 but a very strong swimmer and I didn't take my hands off her.
The park is beautiful and I'm really not knocking it. I just think parents have to be very alert when taking younger children. I think some of the height requirements should be raised.

One man went down the slide and then she went down next and caught up with him and crashed into him. My husband was the 3rd to go down and he then caught up with the man and our daughter. All arrived at the water at the end of the slide at the same time. She banged her head on the man in front of her and cut open her cheek

Considering TWO people caught up to the first guy, sounds like he was the problem (ie: was he slowing himself down purposely) and not the ride attendant.

Agreed, unless the CM sent each person down within 2-3 seconds of each other it has to be the first guys fault.

Omg, ouch. Sorry to hear that. What slide was it, was it the storm slides at Typhoon?

Could have been the guy in front. I don't know for sure. But I will say that while waiting at the end of the slide for my family I saw a woman catch her 2 kids right after another

Strange, as the dispatch is controlled by the traffic light system. Which park and slide was it?

I was down at Blizzard Beach in May of '95 with my family when I was nine, the year it opened, I got quite possibly the worst sunburn of my life. Granted I'm a pasty guy of Irish decent, so I don't know if that really counts. All that white and the hot Florida sun beating down on you all day, heads up kids.

really why is it so strange?

I mean it may be controlled by traffic light system but don't human beings in the end send the people down. Is human error not possible in disney?

The last time we were at Blizzard Beach, I saw a young girl (probably about 5 or 6 years old) crumple to the ground after she stepped on a pin that someone had dropped/lost with her bare foot. Since then, I always make sure my kids have flip-flops or water shoes on at least when we're walking around.

The last time I went down the Humunga Kowabunga slide one of the sections were misaligned with the other and I slamed my shoulder blade and elbow into the bump. With the speed I was going at I got cut and it really hurt. Ever since then I have been afraid of those kind of slides and ushrualey skip them. I was also where when a kid got hurt in the wave pool. They evacuated the pooland shut it down. He was taken out oon a stretcher. I forget the details, expecially becauseit was back in 1999 but I am pretty sure he had a head injury.

It depends on the ride, but in a lot of cases it's automated using sensors to determine when it is clear. There isn;t a human at the bottom signaling when the next rider goes. So human error is unlikely.

Which slide was it?

1) Why wasn't the child's father more alert to his daughter going down the slide too soon ?
2) Why didn't the childs father go down first to supervise her at the bottom ?
3) If the attendant is to blame as the OP stated - then part of the blame must also lie with the childs father for following her and going down too soon.

I think you learned a good lesson here. If you go to a water park with a 6 yo and are not watching every second they will be hurt.

Obviously the first guy was slowing down on purpose.

If a child slides faster than a man, then how could your husband have caught him too. Even if your daughter was not riding, your husband would have still caught him..

My 9yo is a good swimmer and I certainly would not leave his side in a wave pool !!!!!!!!!
