Hey folks,
I am working on a project about crisis management for a hospitality class that I am taking and have to create a presentation for it. I was hoping to see if any one had any resources they would be willing to share about Disney's crisis management, especially relating to the hurricanes in Florida. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks! :D

Yeah being someone from a hurricane prone zone, we still talk about Hugo here, I would doubt that they have "underground bunkers".

The castle lower into the ground and there is a clear "weather dome" which covers the entire property. Same plans they use in cases of the zombie attack.

A bit off topic but am I the only one that wonders what everybody's reaction would be if WDW was actually in the eye of a majoer hurricane or Disneyland in a huge earthquake? What if they were destroyed? :lookaroun

Tha would suck. Not the eye of the hurricane, that would b calm. But the rest of it would suck. I thought about that on 9/11. The news was saying Disney might be a target. Not sure how the company or us would ever recover from that. You couldn't just clean up ad carry on.

If you read Lee Cockerell's book he explains very briefly about their hurricane preparedness from 2004 when they were hit by 3 different storms.

I was going to mention this as well.

And basements aren't non-existant in FL...just extremely rare. not everyone down here is at sea level or close to it.

While true that being in the eye of the hurricane is calm, the problem arises that in order to get in the eye, you get to endure the front end of the hurrincane (and also the rear part of the hurricane); not fun.

Seeing as WDW is in central Florida, one of the most dangerous parts of a hurricane (the tidal surge) will not be a factor; wind damage is going to be the problem (hopefully antennuated by the time it gets to central Florida.)
