There were room discounts for refugees from Katrina. It was FL resident rate.

It wasn't something that you could get in advance. If you showed up and said "I'm from XXX and I have nowhere to go" they would give you the room discount. No tickets or anything else, just room discount.

Hey,
I went last week right after the hurricane because I had no power. I got a Florida resident discount on a three day pass like half of south Florida who I saw their complaining about their pool enclosures caving in and having to return to work before their own power came on. (Both of those wonderful things happened to me and more but I didn’t care I was at Disney!) Also you can also get Florida discount rates on most Disney resort rooms if you call ahead or if they are still available. I suggest you go and visit Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival which was packed last Saturday but worth the small waits and price for food. Hope you enjoy and good luck in your recovery.

It would be nice for a discount to be offered; but here's the problem---alot of people could never take advantage of it. A great percentage of people didn't have flood insurance, meaning they have to borrow money if they want to re-build. FEMA and the insurance adjusters are just now getting into the hardest hit parts. FEMA makes a snail look fast. For those that have been given the green light to start renovating-those that only had to cut 4 feet down, there's now the expense of putting that back together and buying new furnishings. DisneyWorld is a much deserved respite after all of this.......

At this time, only folks like myself could take advantage of the discount and I wouldn't feel right about it, as my suffering pales in comparison from most others........In short, only the lucky could capitalize on any discount offered

This time last week, we were without power at home, and my wife was without power at work (a private high school that chose to open in order to try and stay on schedule as much as possible so the kids that take AP classes have a better chance to pass them at the end of the year). On wed, we scored discounted rooms at the Contemporary. Another adminstrator at the same school (whose roof is gone due to the hurricane and the torrential rains the following week) also had ressies at the Contemporary (they'd reserved some time ago at a higher rate, getting tower rooms). Since we reserved so late, our rooms were non-refundable.

That night at dinner, we were joking that since we'd just put down the payment for the room to get away from the conditions at home, it'd be our luck that the power would come back on. 10 minutes later, that's just what happened. Of course, we went anyway.

This turned out to be one of the most fun trips we've had. Our teenage son had run of the property for the first time -- on the last couple of trips, his options were run of the park we were in or go back to the hotel. My wife spent the weekend sunning, working out in the health club, and shopping the monorail resorts and Main St. I ran the parks with our two younger daughters during the days, and went roller coaster hopping with our son at nights.

...and I'm afraid that many who aren't entitled to it would lie to get it.

There is also the issue of "proving" that you are a hurricane victim. I don't know what kind of documentation one would need.
