Hurricane Matthew

I find it amazing that people are blaming Disney for any of this.....anything involving this. THEY CANNOT CONTROL THE WEATHER.

Why can't people take personal responsibilty for anything? Perhaps knowing the forecast or having some awareness. It's pathetic.

I agree. Common sense says its a hurricane coming. If i was restricted to the food court i would have purchased food and drink for the next 24 hours. If i had transportation, there are numerous of stores they could have went to.

So somehow Disney should have done better? Disney is somehow supposed to predict the weather even better than the National Weather service? There is no way they could win in this situation. They told Guests to keep themselves informed as well as offered operational updates as soon as they had as accurate as information as possible. Even this very minute, they don't even think the storm will impact Orlando as much as initially thought. Disney did everything they could as far as monitoring the weather. I swear, next time someone runs out of gas in their own car on property someone is going to complain that Disney didn't warn them of the possibility. If Disney had announced earlier they were closing then honestly tell me people wouldn't have complained and moaned about this. Disney is keeping their Guests and their Cast safe and that trumps any other decision they could make. People honestly feel like Disney should have just started informing people a week ago "hey there is a hurricane". These threads and bloggers are a joke and a hoot.

People are taking issue with the lack of communication coming from the resort as a whole.

Right. Have some sort of awareness and it's almost like they expect WDW to do their thinking for them.

Of course they are. Guests complain about everything.....many of those things are absurd. Disney can only offer information they know. Perhaps they were waiting info from the National Weather Service and the Hurricane Center.

But again, God forbid guests have PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.

Yes they do, we had that woman earlier in the thread whining about only being moved to the All Stars from Wilderness Campground instead of the GFla.

Yes, people have responsibility to keep themselves informed. Equally, a resort has a responsibility to its guests.

Most of us on here are saying that Disney is one of the safest places to be in a hurricane.

I remember during Charley in 2004, they were handing out all kinds of chips outside the closed food court at All Star Music. There was a man there just screaming at the CM as to how he would feed his children, especially his baby who was too young to eat chips. Charley hit at 9 p.m that night, and there were ample warnings that it was coming (although it did change direction late in the game to come through Orlando). But as a parent, he could have purchased food earlier in the day before the food court closed like many of us did. It was better to be prepared than not as this man found out. The CM was awesome and kept his cool when dealing with this person, especially when we all also came to his defense. When in doubt, it is always best to operate on the side of caution and be prepared.

I think you're confusing the warnings. Orlando wasn't supposed to get hit today.
All reports had said tomorrow morning.
I'm not confusing anything. Local officials wanted people sheltered in place this evening and the expectation was for significant wing and rain to be starting by that time.

Not hurricane winds.

Ok so.. great news for me & SoFla..
The meteorologists were wrong.
Rick Scott was wrong.
Everyone was wrong.
I'm thrilled.

People evacuated who in the end didn't need to evacuate. Every person I know has power.
Worst effect of Matthew in Palm Beach- a few downed Palm Fronds.

Florida is not completely out of the woods yet, but SoFla is.

So maybe all of you who are complaining that you aren't being informed about exactly when and what will happen..
The last hour is proof that no one knows.

Cut Disney some slack.. And be happy that you are safe.

Praying for you treasure coast and north Florida!
