Also, there are priority settings. On AT&T FirstNet for first responders there is spectrum that only first responders are allowed to use when there is an emergency. Whatever Verizon calls their first responder network gives them priority over other customers.

The carriers then prioritize based on what plan you are on. If you are on the el cheapo plan you are much less likely to get a connection. If you are on one of the MVNO (Boost, etc.) that use one of the Big 3 carrier's networks you will have the lowest priority.
Also true, first responders will get priority over others.

Sarasota is my favorite Florida town…go somewhere else, please 🫣
Same. The whole southwestern part of the state is quite lovely. Before I wised up and back back to NC, Sarasota was where I had wanted to from Orlando. We've had our fair share of nasty storms up here, so I am sending so many thoughts and prayers to everyone down in that area over the next few days.

This is why I still have my boomer landline. Between the two I should have some sort of service.
If you have cable or fiber voip phone service your connection depends on having electricity for your modem or ONT. Fewer and fewer people are being served by Copper POTS analog phone, which sourced its "power" from the telephone company Central Office.

As a veteran I don’t get to say this to other people very often, but….

Thank you for your service!!

What you do really impacts the outcome of thousands of lives.
Thank you. That is extremely nice to hear. And thanks for your service as well!

I have been retired for about four years but if things get bad enough I might just get a call from my old director to head south.

I don’t care what you do know…

But you were downplaying people NOT from Florida for days and semi-mocking the concern.

There’s nothing unreasonable about that worry…doesn’t mean you have to go crazy. Appropriate levels of concern are welcome.

And the daily updates on park plans are tone deaf under the circumstances.

Do what you want…but “act like you’ve been there before”…
Because while many of us have (too many times in my case)…not everyone has.

It’s Holiday season in the UK…they’ve been on lockdown for the last two years. Don’t get many typhoons in Scotland.
Perspective.
I'm not sure where you're getting that. I haven't been mocking anyone at any time. You, however, have been mocking me for deciding to stay put and not put myself at risk for getting on the open road. I suggest you look in a mirror.

Sorry I did not take that from his posts. I felt it was more like an I am here so may as well make the best of it.

I tend to agree that if he is on site he should follow whatever directions his resort issues and not try and leave in this mess.
Thank you. I agree completely. Now is not the time to leave.

Nice try. From our time during Irma:

No fancy packaging, as they were hastily assembled. We bought three. The sandwiches were quite good.
Nice try? Not sure what you mean.
I was going by numerous posts here during the last hurricane where Disney had box lunches. Not sure where you stayed but that I guess was cheap. The majority of reports from people here were saying that it was way overpriced for what you got. Most I’ve seen in the posts here back then were charged 12.99 or 13.99. My 40.00 bucks guess was a joke. I still believe that 52 or 54 bucks for a family of 4 for small sandwiches and a few chips is way to much. They can do better for people stuck in their hotels.

  • Food Tip: If there is a strong probability of your trip being impacted by a hurricane, you may want to use a taxi or Uber early in the day to go to the store for food items, beverages and bottled water. Disney sold box lunches for $12.99 for guests to take to their rooms; that’s a cost of that would cost of $51.96 for one meal (sandwiches, chips, fruit, muffin & beverage) for a family of four. You don’t want to buy too much stuff as you probably won’t have to stay in your room too long but, even with taxi fare, you’ll probably save money if you’re planning for more than one meal.

Can I ask why? With it turning to Orlando would it not be smart to try to get a few hours north before the morning? Genuinely asking as I have a friend stuck at the contemporary. They have a car and could be in gratifia by tonight. They don’t know which is smarter
