Hmmm.. Celebration.. I hear that is a Mickey Mouse operation there.First time experiencing a hurricane in the central Florida area (Celebration) - Does anyone know how the area holds up during a hurricane impact?
Lived in South Florida all my life, weathered several storms (Wilma, Irma, etc.) and I've always assumed that Orlando is safer.
It’s north of the city and on much higher ground. With the storm moving south the danger there is far less.Unless Busch Gardens has some top-notch storm drainage systems we could be looking at another Six Flags New Orleans and then some.
Here's the first post forecast, maybe the most accurate of what will happen.View attachment 668607
Time to fire this thread up unfortunately, what will be Hurricane Hermine is expected to hit Florida Wednesday as a F2 (110 mph) storm.
This is when Ian really cranks up 85+ degree waterIt looks like Ian has just entered the Gulf, nothing to stop it until Florida, next NHC track is at 1100.
That’s just freaky. Here's the first post forecast, maybe the most accurate of what will happen.
That occurred once and was a mistake. The price was supposed to be the write off amount and the lunches distributed to guests for free.If your stuck at our hotels.. be sure to take advantage of our lunch boxes.. sandwich..chips..all for 40.00!
I remember that from last time, made me sick. Of course people need to eat with restaurants closed..and it was a great idea to provide this but the price, which I can’t remember how much was crazy. The 40.00 is a guess..but not to far off I’m betting.

I thought it was $12 but a dry white bread sandwich and a bag of chips? Maybe an apple? If your stuck at our hotels.. be sure to take advantage of our lunch boxes.. sandwich..chips..all for 40.00!

In theory, Orlando area is safer. When Charley hit, we had little damage on our house in Dr. Phillips. We had neighbors who had palm trees through their roofs, though. I was then a Publix Pharmacist a few miles south of Celebration with a lot of patients from there. Some people had to rebuild part of their house. My pharmacist partner didn't have power for weeks. Hurricanes are very hard to predict. I hope it weakens.First time experiencing a hurricane in the central Florida area (Celebration) - Does anyone know how the area holds up during a hurricane impact?

Odd, when we were there during a storm they were distributing box lunches for free. Also, the day the parks closed the day before the storm, they were giving free ice cream from the carts as we left the parks. If your stuck at our hotels.. be sure to take advantage of our lunch boxes.. sandwich..chips..all for 40.00!

I still find it more likely the Orlando parks reopen this weekend than Busch, especially if Tampa and St. Petersburg become Russo-Ukranian war zones in the next month. It’s north of the city and on much higher ground. With the storm moving south the danger there is far less.
Very sensible.Tonight, barring any major shifts, when I move my reservation to 2023 (just checked I can do that online) I don’t plan on calling about refunds on my 2 MNSSHP or Hoop reservations, I’m going to try to find an email or wait until at least Saturday to call.
I personally think, if this track holds, that there is going to be mass flooding in Orlando and that clean up is going to take longer then expected. I don’t see how getting 50% of the rain experienced in the past 3 weeks in less then 72 hours doesnt result in catastrophic flooding. You can’t just flip back to normal the next day. The only thing that has me waiting a little longer is models are continuing to curve east and that might result in the stall happening after the storm passes FL. We shall see, although if this comes to pass Ft Myers/Capd Coral will get massive damage.
Infrastructure usually is ok.First time experiencing a hurricane in the central Florida area (Celebration) - Does anyone know how the area holds up during a hurricane impact?

They’re not. The Starcruiser will not be in use until Saturday at the earliest. Aside from a bare bones cast to be at the hotelMight be using for CMs?
Box lunches were $13 a meal - yes dry sandwich, drink, muffin, and an appleI thought it was $12 but a dry white bread sandwich and a bag of chips? Maybe an apple?
I don’t expect Harvey flooding (that was 30 inches) but what happens if the utilidoors flood? What happens if ride buildings get flooded? Hotel first floors? Roads get washed out? You don’t need 30 inches for that, and don’t forget TS winds, trees are going to fall too. Heck the HHN tents could be destroyed at Universal. No one is going to know if they did until Friday, my arrival day. It’s just not worth the risk, not to mention I’m not sure how I fly in. Landfall is <48 hours away this is really the last day for any major shifts.I still find it more likely the Orlando parks reopen this weekend than Busch, especially if Tampa and St. Petersburg become Russo-Ukranian war zones in the next month.
Orlando and Orange County are lucky to be on higher ground with tons of wetlands to boot. They'd have to get Harvey-level rainfall to turn into Houston after that mess (not saying it's impossible! But still....).

Like any storm, any place….a lot of blowers, garbage bags, mops and microban…I don’t expect Harvey flooding (that was 30 inches) but what happens if the utilidoors flood?
