I have family that live in Florida and rode out that storm. It was scary to watch on the news and know they lived through it. They all made it through only some water damage and lost part of the roof but, they were all safe.

 I can't believe that was 5 years ago!!! Yes... I remember it VERY clearly. I was actually on vacation at the time.. in Florida. I had just been to WDW and we were staying at a condo on the beach. It was our last night of vacation.

That day is actually very dear to me as it was the first day I really started on these forums... having joined only a few days prior!

Heading for the great escape.
I was in the WL. Quite an eventful holiday, a hurricane and then I contracted Bell's paulsy.

Disney were very organised, and it was a unique experience watching events unfold from the balcony with a wee hello cheeky. Though I bid a hasty retreat when the facia of the roof blew off above us and down toward the pool.

Yup...I was part of the MK ride out crew and on lock down in the tunnel.

Oh how fun!! I was working at Cirque and we lost the canopy during Charley and had to mop out the lake of water that blew into the box office that night...fun times!

We had some friends that were staying in Ft Wilderness during Charley. They were of course evacuated. They deiced to reschedule their trip for early September. They were evacuated yet again for Francis. We swore never to travel to Disney the same time as them....ever.

Yes, I do remember Charley. And was he an a$$.

No, seriously. Ruined the whole week for us.

Not a lot of damage, just rising tensions.

Happy 5th? :lookaroun

We were at home, with our cases ready by the front door when everything shut down and flights were cancelled! It took 3 days to get on a rearranged flight from Manchester to Sanford .. we were disappointed to lose those 3.5 days, but when we arrived and saw the damage we were just glad we got there at all.

I was in Melbourne, FL watching the opening ceremonies for the Athens Olympics that evening and the cable kept going out because of the storm. The next morning there was half a tree on top of the porch. That was fun.

Charley didn't have quite an effect on my area as Frances and Jeanne did. Oh, what a fun summer...

I went to WDW about a week after Charley hit.
It seemed that most everything in the parks was cleaned up by the time I got there, but I remember seeing a lot of damage while riding from MCO to the Beach Club.

I remember thinking that it was very ironic that Gaston was in the making while I was at WDW.

That was the first storm that we were forced to evacuate.
Our general plan was to go inland to Orlando (where it would be safe).

For some reason at last minute we decided to got north toward Tallahassee, not sure why we chose that but it turned out to the smart move.

Now Ana is churning up!!!

This happened the day after we left to return home from our very first trip to DW. Glad I missed it. Hope nothing major happens this year.
