The chicken sandwich at HBR was my go to dish at Disneyland. I don't know why people are so picky when it comes to food at Disneyland. At the end of the day it's theme park food and that's what you should expect (exceptions for places like Blue Bayou or Carthay Circle).
The sparkling strawberry pickle beverage seems to be good too, despite sounding gross. So it sounds like the new beer battered fries (by themselves or loaded) are the runaway hit of the new menu. Followed by the banana pudding and the funnel cake fries. Sounds like the BBQ is just ok. Corn ribs also seem to be getting good reviews.

If it's anything like the pickle lemonade they had back in April for Pixar Fest then it's very good. But granted, I'm a pickle fiend.Sounds very gross haha but might give it a shot once
On 80s/early 90s DL trips with the family when I was a kid we hardly ate any meals in the park as my parents were very cost conscience. Hungry Bear was one of the few places we'd eat at, so I have fond memories of their burgers from that period. Otherwise I can't say it's been all that big of a deal for the last 30 years for me.
I'm a bit surprised they didn't just repurpose the old Big Thunder Ranch BBQ menu for this. Fans would have gone nuts.
Can definitely relate to the budget family trips-
My family's favorite Disneyland 'restaurant' was some sandwiches from the Subway on Harbor eaten in the picnic area.
Semi-related to what you said- I would LOVE if Disney did a line of small figures to be sold at the parks similar to this series Pokemon has- they're small vinyl figures where all the characters have the same similar squished proportions, as if they were all designed to fit inside the same size cube. They're definitely cheap to produce, and they've been releasing in waves for nearly 30 years now!Speaking of budget Disney needs to bring back those little PVC figurines they used to sell at the little newsstands outside the entry tunnels. I would I always get my mom to get me a couple of those on my way out of the park. I’m guessing they were like a buck. I still have the 4 captain Eo character figurines from the 70s.
I'm not sure if these are sold in the Parks as I'm not a vinyl collector, but they do have a series of small figures for various Disney characters that are sold on Disney Store.Semi-related to what you said- I would LOVE if Disney did a line of small figures to be sold at the parks similar to this series Pokemon has- they're small vinyl figures where all the characters have the same similar squished proportions, as if they were all designed to fit inside the same size cube. Just start producing these but with park-original characters and they'd be sold out in seconds.
The Captain EO ones are already close to the Pokemon sizes, just squish em down!

I noticed a lot of vinyl figures for sale in the Chinese parks last month, but they were expensive and mostly in blind boxes.I'm not sure if these are sold in the Parks as I'm not a vinyl collector, but they do have a series of small figures for various Disney characters that are sold on Disney Store.

We made it to the new Country Bearified BBQ jamboree and I found the amount of effort put into making it Country Bear themed to be underwhelming. Happy to try to address specifics, but wanted to note a couple things for others planning to go soon:
- Mobile order was booking out 70-90+ minutes in advance at various points during the day, we had to schedule around a work call and picked a 3pm time slot. We hit “prepare my order” around 2:55 when passing Tiana’s restaurant and then a few minutes later saw the in person order queue extend most of the way down the ramp that leads up to the restaurant. To my great surprise, our food was actually ready less than 7m after we asked them to prepare our order (I feel like this can take 10+ min on an average day at Pym Kitchen).
- We had several failed attempts to place an order over two hours (on different Disney accounts) before succeeding. We tried changing up orders, adding/subtracting things, picking different time windows, I’m not certain what ultimately did it but we weren’t able to try to banana pudding because I couldn’t get it to work with it in the cart and wasn’t willing to wait 30m in the standby order line.
- The music (upstairs) was very quiet and even when I did hear the songs from the CBMJ I was often only realizing they were playing 20-30 seconds in. I don’t recall hearing any other songs but I think it was because I didn’t recognize them and tuned them out. I think it kept the ambiance more calm and similar to the prior Hungry Bear concept. In fact, if Disney hadn’t issued several press releases and it just reopened, I’d be like “hmm, were those pics of the Bears always on the wall?”
- Food was OK to great. My son loved his ribs, three of us got pulled pork sandwiches and were happy with them, I got the brisket sandwich and much of it was good (flavor good, texture great) but I pulled out a few extremely chewy strings that were tougher than beef jerky. I was sad that there was no pickle with the beef brisket, managed to steal one from my daughter’s pulled pork sandwich and it definitely elevated those bites.
-Speaking of pickle, I cannot recommend the pickle lemonade. I love pickles as a food but do not need the flavor of pickle juice as the dominant flavor in my lemonade. I thought it was very strange that you couldn’t just get lemonade, you either had to get it with pickle or with some sort of creamy foam.
- Fries were different from old country bear fries, not quite steak fries shaped and way way more of a crispy outer layer. They were good though. I didn’t see anywhere I could get mayonnaise (which I like to mix with BBQ sauce to copy the Red Robin campfire sauce), but they had a few kinds of BBQ sauce and ketchup and I think mustard.
We’ll probably eat there again — the other members of the family were all very happy with the meal, but I like the mobile order options at SWGE and Avenger’s Campus slightly better.
