Humongous observation

I dont know why they couldnt have had them submerge during the day then rise up for the show, even if not 100 percent submerged to me there were better options, that would have reached the same end goal.

This is the water works at the Disneyland California Adventure. They are usually underwater. They are brought up to work on them. You can see the bubbles coming up from the section on the left. It had just been submerged.

The daytime fountains make them look worse -- they tried it.

I'm not sure how they didn't realize that originally because it was pretty obvious that was never going to be a workable solution.

Which makes it obvious they knew the barges were an eyesore when the show was being developed otherwise they wouldn't have tried to develop a poor plan in concealing them.

A couple days this week I have noticed a pretty good sized murder of crows either living there daytime, or just hanging out in the stargate.
Had to be - 30 ish?

maybe making it a bird sanctuary will work for then next 20 years until it’s replaced

The barges are just plain U-G-L-Y! UGLY!!
The barges are an interesting allegory of what has happened to Disney. The concept of themed entertainment has focused on being immersive - where there are no hints of the real world to drag you away from this other place and time.

The barges take away the "theme" from the "theme park". What was once an immersion in a showcase of the world is now simply "bad show". You are transported to a concert for 5% of the day, and then experience a junkyard for the rest.

Disney has given up on the premise of immersive theme parks at the replaced it with the quest for the bottom line. Keep paying for the smaller portions of food - it's healthier for you!
