Hulk Trains Scrapped

According to this, http://coasterhub.com/archives/3216, Vekoma is using a new track bending technology that allows for a much smoother ride. I am not a coaster fan so I have never ridden this one, but I do like to lay on the beach and watch it. :)

I saw a documentary recently about how they build the track sections and I was amazed at home much manual work is involved. The rough bends are done by a computer controlled bending machine, but all the find tuning is done by hand. Maybe Vekoma has come up with a new technique that allows a lot more of the work to be automated.
Vekoma and smoother ride? Does not compute.

I am not sure if this has been answered yet, but does anyone know if this track will be the exact same layout as before? Or are they making some alterations?

Do we know why the reason tore it down to start all over then?

Exactly! I could see a refurb of the station and replace the trains, but if they went to all the work to replace ALL the track why not change it a bit. The back section of Hulk was never my favorite. It would have been awesome if they added some themeing elements, maybe moved the track so that a larger addition could be made to Marvel Island. Something to get value out of the work.

Different track was needed to accommodate the new trains. That is the reason. The layout is the same because the footers/foundation were already there. The second half of the ride will be more enjoyable with these new trains.

I really wish they could have enclosed the second half with effects, though.

I would imagine that alerting the track path of a coaster like this even slightly would increase costs and project time exponentially.

I really wish they would have kept the bare steel rails. With them painted green they will have bare steel tracks showing in no time which wont look as appealing IMHO.

Kinda sounds like they are hiding something more serious to me. Possible cracks to the old track? Coasters getting entirely new trains isn't uncommon. Cedar Point swapped stand-up trains on Mantis to floor-less trains then repainted the track and renamed the ride. Other coaster receive similar treatment to keep things fresh but it's highly unusual to completely build the exact same track from scratch just to swap out trains. This screams something more was happening.

Nothing serious at all. But the cost of a new ride vs repairs are worth it, plus energy saving with new design makes a great investment. If it was really an emergency or something serious they would of stopped operating pretty fast before making such a decision to rebuilt track and supports. This was an enhancement project. They could of easily kept a bunch of smaller investments to keep the coaster going with refurbs, as other coasters do. But they wanted to go premium. This was scheduled long before the last day of operation.

So say It's A Small World needs new sleek boats with lights and a sound system. It's cost saving to tear down the entire building then rebuild it exactly the same as the old one and suddenly it's...better? o_O

roller coaster =/= a building

If a boat ride needed new boats that could only be accommodated by new track, they would replace the track. I don't know why some think this is such a radical concept. Disneyland did the exact same thing with Space Mountain & Thunder Mountain (just as WDW should, but they're too cheap.)

DL's Space Mountain's new trains are also doubled the weight of the old ones so a new track was inevitable. If Hulk's new trains are energy efficient and smoother it doesn't make much sense. Less energy to propel the trains out of the tunnel = lighter. I'd just like to know the whole story, that's all.

We don't know how exactly the new trains are different. They could very well weigh more. The insiders might know, but they haven't given any details as far as I'm aware.
