On my own front, I now have a dilemma. I went to Dillards today by my house b/c they are closing it and everything is 30% off. So I was looking for dresses for work when I found a off white dress. I was just joking when I said, I'll just try this on. Well I did and I fell in love with it. It is a halter dress and is a little more ornate than the dress that I already have. The good news is that the woman who is supposed to alter my dress hasn't started yet, the bad news, my headpiece doesn't match and the veil doesn't match either, but I can work with that.
My dress was always a "we bought it in case we don't find anything else I liked." And so far I haven't found anything else. Now that I have, am I crazy for thinking about switching them? Should I keep the dress that I already have or buy this new dress which I really do like.

nibblesandbits said:There is the chance the lady said she'd switch the headpieces...she had to dye the original one I bought and said if it didn't work out, she'd exchange it. That was a few months ago, but there's still hope.
The veil, while doesn't exactly match (it has pearls in it like my first dress has all over it...this new dress has no pearls but ornate beading) I can still get away with wearing it. It won't look horrible.

yes, my future DH is already taken care of. I actually bought his clothes for him (well, we went together to pick them out, he paid).ASJHLJ said:Slightly off topic - but have you made sure your groom has taken care of whatever it is you want him to take care of? I'm a former groom and I've been best man/groomsman in 6 weddings over the last decade and I can say that the groom is occasionally not the most responsible person at the wedding. I've even seen a groom put off going to the tux rental place until 90 minutes before the ceremony and the tux rental place was 35 minutes away (you can figure out the round trip time and see how crazy that is). I'm sure your groom is exemplary, but you may want to drop a few gentle reminders as the date approaches. I, myself, was the perfect groom and the wife didn't even know about the beer we smuggled into the groom getting ready area for several years. On another side note, as I keep typing the word groom, it seems like a terribly odd word. I suddenly want to check the spelling and whatnot.

See, we're getting married on the beach, so all he's got to wear is a off white carribbean joe shirt, kakhi pants, and sandals. I know all of those items are in my closet as we speak...as are all the groomsmen's attire except one b/c his pants size was bigger than they carried at the store. (He's a tall guy!)
But I thank you for the words of wisdom! (I work weddings every weekend for a good 5-6 months of the year...I know what kind of trouble guys get into! And esp. at my wedding, it's at an all inclusive resort...meaning all the alcohol you can drink...I can only imagine what will happen, not only with my future DH, but also with my bridesmaids! )
Yeah...my mom's a little worried about that. I don't know how to feel. :lookarountigsmom said:No alcohol until after the ceremony! Make that the rule, I've seen terrible things happen when the booze was opened beforehand.
