Navteq shares jump in market debut

NEW YORK, Aug 6 (Reuters) - Navteq Corp. (NYSE:NVT - News) shares rose 17 percent in their market debut on Friday after more shares than expected were sold in the initial public offering from the electronic map-making affiliate of Philips Electronics' (Amsterdam
HG.AS - News; NYSEHG - News).
Navteq on Thursday priced 40 million shares at $22 each. The Chicago company had filed with securities regulators for an IPO of 39.2 million shares at an estimated price of $20.50 to $22.50 apiece.
Navteq provides digital map information for automotive and mobile navigation systems and for Internet-based mapping applications. The company's main Internet clients include AOL/Mapquest, a division of Time Warner Inc. (NYSE:TWX - News), Microsoft Inc. (NasdaqNM:MSFT - News) and Yahoo Inc. (NasdaqNM:YHOO - News).
Philips Consumer Electronics Services BV, which owned 83.5 percent of the company, and NavPart IBV, which held 9.8 percent, sold all of the shares in the IPO, according to offering documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (News - Websites) .
Philips is retaining a 42.1 percent stake after the offering, and NavPart is keeping 6.5 percent.
Credit Suisse First Boston and Merrill Lynch & Co. led the underwriters of the deal.
For the first quarter, Navteq reported net revenue of $79.5 million and net income of $9.7 million. For 2003, net revenue was $272.6 million, and net income was $235.8 million.

Weekend huggles to all from COLD northern New York - I had the heat on in my car this morning!

Today in Bristol the weather has been mostly hot, windy and wet. I have no idea how they managed to achieve that, but it made an interesting combination to ride the scoot through.
