Is the last picture on the right (next to Rivers of Light concept art) the boat ride? It's too dark to tell. Nothing new but a nice little display I suppose. Why can't they put up the model? Is it some big secret? LOL

It looks like the same images that were already released. The one you are referring to is concept art of the boat ride:

If nothing else, it does seem to confirm yet again that the boat ride is coming (I know some skeptics still have doubts, but I don't know why they would).

I agree with you about the model. It exists, why not display it as well? I wonder if there is clear space near this display were additional Pandora stuff might be added.

Edit: Actually, I'm kind of wondering what the test in the upper right says.

Thanks. Thought it was the boat ride but wanted to be sure. For that reason (that it's still coming).

Also would like to know what the text says.

I would like to ask a dumb question...

Do you think it could be possible for them to open up the PREVIEW CENTER on Hotel Plaza Blvd that they used when WDW was being built for things like this(assume they could still use the building, I know its still there, but I think there is offices or something in it now!)
I think they should use it like Walt/Roy did back when WDW was being built, so the public could come in and see what the World was going to be like when it was built! I think this would get more enthusiasm generating among the masses in anticipation of the opening of the new attraction. Just sayin!

"Mythical wonders of Pandora." Hmmmmmm. Interesting choice of words considering the plot of land it's being built on was for a different kind of mythical land. Coincidence? Maybe.
the wording? they know exactly what they are trying to do, merge the mythical beastly kingdomme concept to the Pandora, a mythical place. trying to bind them together so that the unwashd masses will 'get' why avatar is here and not in DHS

But Pandora isn't mythical, it's modern fantasy.
This distinction puts a huge emphasis on European mythology as the primary source for mythical animals. I assume the masses would have accepted a Mysterious Island expansion to the Animal Kingdom with the centerpiece being an animal created by Imagineers (either a Lava Monster or something else). We know about Avatar because a movie exists, however conceptually I don't see much of a difference between the two concepts. One would have been an area featuring mythical animals created by Imagineers, the other would be an area featuring mythical animals created by James Cameron.

It's in Animal Kingdom because of the plants, the forest and the animals and the message of conservation. It doesn't belong in DHS. Just like those wanting Frozen there instead of Epcot. It doesn't belong in DHS either (or Epcot).

I cannot remember whether this was said on here by someone in the know, or whether it was just armchair imagineering by someone, but was it not said that when Mysterious Island was planned to come to Animal Kingdom, that the Lava Monster was going to be replaced by a dragon?

EDIT:

From 2011...

^ Indeed. From what I know, the version proposed as part of the Potter offensive was the same ride, same layout as JTTCOTE but in a significantly different show building and with a different theme. Possibly with no lava monster.
