HUGE 20K/it's a small world rumor/update

I am sorry (not really) but I love the idea. Granted, it will never happen, but think of the possibilities. I love Small World, and I love the one in Disneyland. I think it would be great if they built one that was bigger and better. And once the new one is open, gut the old building and give us a villain ride, or something. IASW is a classic, and like it or not, I have a feeling that it is staying a while.
However, whether they use it for this idea or not, I hope they do something with the 20K land. It is prime space that needs a good ATTRACTION, not a garden!

Reply from a source of mine:
"Consider this rumor killed. Small World needs a refurb and is getting it. However, there is absolutely no situation in which the attraction warrants an expenditure of the size it would take to build a new one on the 20K land.

Bottom line is, it's simply not popular enough. The ride would close forever before it was rebuilt from scratch at the 20K site."

Although Lee deftly quashed the rumor, I thought I'd add this just for those interested in asbestos. Even if they were to tear down IASW's show building, they would have to remove the asbestos first. Tearing down a building creates a lot of dust, and if the asbestos is not removed first then the dust will contain asbestos fibers which is a health hazard to the construction workers doing the demolition. So, tearing down a building is not at all a solution to an asbestos problem.

I hope they don't destroy the old building, but they bring a little bit of new magic to a classic ride, I wish they never tore out 20,000 leagues under the sea,it was one of my favorites, they should have rehab it with a bit of disney magic. Wish they would take one of the old Nautilus subs from the ride and place it in the rivers of america and make it dock near lierty square,as a reminder of a great ride that once was, besides it look cool as a disply while aboard the mark twain riverboat cruise (in the movie, thats the era the nautilus ran her voyages) Another great idea would be that disney build a
museam near is parks and have a smithsonian type set up for different rides
(or photos) of rides and attraction it ran in its park (operating or non-operating) instead of destroying or let disney history rot in a back lot,i'm sure people would be attracted to it to remid them of memories of past visits from their childhood when grandparents, parents, aunts & uncles. Call it a magical gathering of memories.:sohappy:

That is an awsome idea. I am not sure that it would fit in any of the parks, but maybe in an area by itself or Downtown Disney. A lot of what they did for the 100 years of magic could be given a long-term home.
