Hug them a little closer

This site has brought me so much joy over the years. My family and I have had a terrible run lately but wdwmagic is always there. With the news from Connecticut, it puts your problems into there proper place. For the majority on this site whose love of Disney is tied to family, trips with mom and dad, the love of seeing your kids light up from all things Disney, remember that today of all days. Hug them and tell them how much you love them. They know it, but an entire kindergarten class just left behind sorrow we cannot fathom.

Love each other, and please don't turn this political.

For me, I will say this-

to my Ella, who is sleeping on my chest, Happy 1st birthday love.
to my Madison, you drive me crazy, but these last five years have been a ball, I love you.
to my Lawton, 8 years ago you made me an adult, I love you.

I love this site and the avatars attached to the people I have met here.

A parent's worst nightmare. My son is 11, he'll be home from school in a half an hour. A big hug is waiting for him.

And, of course, he will, if he is like most kids that age, shrug it off and keep going. And, honestly, that is how it should play out. They are sheltered from that and will hopefully never be exposed to anything worse than the occasional poorly adjusted classmate. But we need to slobber on them on days like this. It is good for our sanity.

I have not been able to process this. How a person can take the lives of 20 beautiful innocent children (2 more have been pronounced dead), I just can't fathom it.

I've been crying on and off all day thinking about the families, the victims, and what the children in that school went through in those moments.

I desperately want to go get my children from school and hug them.

Got a huge hug from my mom when I got home, I didn't know what happened. Now I feel really sad. Those families will be in my family's prayers

Actually thought about you when I was typing out the post. You are one of the only school aged people on this site. Get used to the hugs. Anytime anything bad happens to a kid, anywhere, we always jump to "what if that was my kid" mode. Just go with it.

Really crazy. The whole thing is bad, but what really makes it bad is that these were kindergartners. I mean , don't kill the children of you're going to do something like this. :(

Such a sad day. I heard he went in and shot his mother who was a teacher at the school. The principal made it so doors must stay locked at all times and that visitors would have to buzz in. This was new this year, but the person letting him in knew that he was a teachers son. Police found a body at his house as well.

EDIT: The gunman was not let in by anyone, he forced his way in.

This doesn't belong in this section of the forum

Really? Who made you a moderator all of the sudden? Something like this takes prescident over everything.....even forum rules..... When something like this happens, not only those 27 families are touched but we as a nation are heart broken. We mourn for those affected by this awful tradgic situation. Our prayers go out to those families.
