How would you feel if Disney World rebuilt its Castle?

After seeing the spiced up castle in Disney World this year.. with all the extra stuff on it for the happiest celebration on earth.. do you think the return of the plain old castle without the decorations and big mirror will kinda look plain?

How would you feel if they decided to rebuild the castle in Disney World to make it bigger and more impressive? Would you support that or do you think people would hate it like they hate the Epcot wand?

I'd have to say no for this one. It would be like changing Disneyland: USA's castle. Of all the changes WDW has gone through, the Castle IMHO is something that should not dramatically change. I support temporary decorations for the various themes that come and go at WDW, but the Castle is something that should always remain the same since WDW became "the vacation kingdom of the world" in 1971 so everyone whoever visits the MK can cherish the same view of the castle and allow the next the same chance. :D

I don't think the castle will look plain at all with the decorations gone. See my avatar. :D Simply beautiful!

The second question requires more thinking!

I think the castle will look kind of plain without the gold decorations. Many of us have gotten used to the decorations now. We will get used to the normal castle.

In my opinion, they should not rebuild the castle, partly because everyone is used the the current castle. It looks nice. It is along the ideas of what Walt wanted in the park. I think anything too much larger would look out of place.
Imagine all of the families who could only come to WDW once in their lives that would visit when the castle is gone. The park would look totally different. It would not be a quick construction process. It would be impossible to hide it.

I do think that WDW could do some refurbishment on the castle (similar to the train station) after the decorations come down and add some gold color to it, and do lots of touch up detail work.

Happy holidays everyone! :xmas:

The only permanent renovation/change to the Castle that I'd like to see would be the addition of fiber-optic lighting. Other than that, it's fine, with or without the 50YOM decorations.

I think adding something like fiber-optic lighting would be great.

I don't think the castle will look boring at all when all the gold comes off. It has spent the majority of its life without special decorations. The castle structure should not change in anyway. As for fiberoptic lighting, that would be cool. The same goes for Sleeping Beauty Castle at DL.

Some things should never change, and the Castle is definatly one of those things. I feel the castle is a beautiful part of Disney History, and I hope that when I see it, it has all the decorations down. I honestly think the decorations (based on pictures) makes the castle look tacky. But, I am sure that many will disagree. That is expected, but I think the original castle is soooo beautiful and magical that I feel the decorations take away from its beauty. I also believe the COP should never really change its show. I think it is neat to see what generations ago thought today's society would be like. As far as the wand on the Epcot Globe, I definatly would like to see it go. It just looks so overdone. What I liked about the globe was how simple, yet beautiful it was. Now, with the wand, I think, again, it looks tacky and overdone. I guess I just like the beauty of simple things. Should we redo the Mona Lisa with an updated hairstyle and new clothes ? Absolutly not. These (not the COP) pieces of Disney are Major works of Art. They should be left alone and treated with the original beauty they so gracefully offer.

Does anyone know when the decorations on the castle will be removed?

I like all the pretty gold... minus the mirror. I've grown to like the gold... but will be perfectly happy when (if?) they take it all down. I kind of miss seeing the castle "clean"

One thing that I kind of wish is they would do isonly project the white light on the castle at night and not the rotating colors...

Are you saying that complaints about the train station's refurb weren't enough for you? Imagine what people will be saying if the whole castle was torn down. That would not be fun.

It IS the most photographed spot in the world, after all. If they were to change it, it would just be weird.

BRING BACK THE CAKE!!!!!

Seriously though I think the mirror should be taken down ASAP. The characters aren't THAT bad, but I wouldn't mind seeing them come down and the castle restored to its original glory. I much prefer the color wash lighting of the current castle to any fiber optic, though fiber optics could be integrated with white lights to make the castle sparkle (much like the Innoventions sidewalks) -- but in light of the eyesoe during construction, the benefit would be minimal compared with the guest complaints.

The golden trimmings are lovely and I do think the Castle would kind of plain without it, however, after seeing the gloriously fiber optics decorated Paris Castle, i wouldn't mind them taking all the Gold things down and replacing them with that

Count me in as one who will think it is plain for a little bit after the gold comes down and then it will become that good ol' classic Castle as it should be. I really don't think Florida's should be rebuilt nor California's. The only ones that I don't like are the recreated castles in Japan and Hong Kong. I love that Paris has its own, appropriate castle. I realize there are only so many princesses, but it always disappointed me to some extent that there wasn't a unique castle for each park. Snow White, Ariel (land castle - since underwater would be Triton's castle ala TDS), and even going slightly outside the box with Aladdin/Jasmine, etc. I realize they might not evoke per se the same feeling, but I think they could certainly work. Just a pet peeve of mine, I guess! :p

First of all let me say this...not everyone hates the EPCOT wand.

Secondly, if Disney wants to rebuild the castle they will, and I bet they won't even ask your permission.

Seriously, if Disney was the same all the time, people would get bored and quit going. I applaud Disneys renovations, changes, and new ideas. Some changes make me sad, some make me angry, and some make me happy, but experiancing new attractions are what keeps my family and I going back year after year.

I won't put anything down until I see or experiance it myself. Until then. I don't judge.

There has been a strong rumor that has said that when the HCOE is over everything will be removed but the pixie dust wraps and the ribbon wraps around each of the spires.
