How will Flight of Passage affect Soarin'

It will be a fully immersive experience from the time you walk under the floating mountains to when you dismount your banshee. It will be far more realistic that Soarin' and one of the biggest draw attractions at WDW for at least the next decade. I have no doubt that the ride will take interactive theme park first person experiences up a notch and be a game changer in the industry when it debuts.

Just thought I'd put my opinion out there, since everyone else has shared theirs.

Yes, this.

Soarin' though I do like it a lot, stands alone unconnected thematically to anything - essentially tucked into the back of a food court.
Flight of Passage will begin it's effect on a person before they even enter the park, and they see those mountains looming above.
Then you'll have the walk through Pandora to more fully immerse yourself in the theming.
Think of the way Expedition Everest works on you.
I believe it is safe to say with certainty that the ride itself will be to Soarin at least what the current Star Tours is to the original version.
Actually that's understating it.
Expect Flight of Passage to be quite a bit more radical than Soarin'
Soarin' is loved partially for its gentle breeziness. Older folks in particular enjoy Soarin'.
I expect FoP to have your Banshee plunge off of cliffs, maneuver at high speeds through trees, and possibly evade combat.
I'd be willing to bet it will have moments of calm beauty as well.
All, in a much more immersive environment with much higher quality visuals.

Very nicely summarized. I think that this will be such a complete experience from entry into Pandora, strolling beneath the floating mountains, walking up and into the mountains themselves, through the queue that I expect will simply build upon the ridiculous level of theming already, and finally riding the banshee itself.

I can almost recall the parts of the movie that I think will be included on this ride. From first mounting a banshee high up in the floating mountains, to diving straight down the face of one at high speeds, to being jolted around as you learn to understand your connection with the banshee, to it leveling off for the more calm, serene portion of the ride, to then being chased through the forest by Toruk Makto. Those are the first flying scenes with Jake in the movie.

What I will be interested in seeing is if they incorporate any fighting aspects into this ride. Considering that the timeline takes place years after the events of the first movie, most likely not. I always thought that it would be great to have multiple simulator experiences for this to promote even more re-ridability. One that would have been intriguing would be a battle sequence that was in the end of the movie. I can only imagine how incredible that could be. I have a feeling though, that due to several factors, that type of scene will either not make sense or will just be avoided entirely.

i think slim to none for fighting unless you're being chased by Toruk...and i do think you be chased

Thank you.
I don't know the movie well, and don't really like it much aside from the visuals.
But, I think it is going to make a fantastic immersive theme park experience and I am very excited by what Disney is doing here.
I appreciate your feedback as to how the flight sequence may go, and believe you've likely summarized it.
I'm also wondering if there may be some greater emphasis on audio and aroma, wind...
I'd imagine that is likely.
