How to have a countdown

Okay so I'm going to WDW in August, and that feels so far away so I want to do things that'll help me countdown in a sense so the wait time doesn't seem as long. Any ideas?:)

This might sound crazy, but... Start a project that you HAVE to get done by Disney. or, try to race yourself to see how many of something you can do before Disney (mine is to lose as much weight as possible before Disney) It seems like in my life, whenever I have a deadline, the time leading up to the deadline flies by. I apply this to everything now - waiting for a trip, productivity at work, running on the treadmill, cleaning my dorm. If you make it a contest, time will go more quickly!

I am doing the same thing :) I bought a stair stepper at target called "the mini stepper" for 65 dollars, and it works wonders!!! Especially if you put on a vacation planning DVD while you do it :)

I know how you feel I still have like 280 days to go. In fact I just drove up to the airport (its about 30 minutes from me) just to pass time lol. Of course driving there makes me want to go even sooner but oh well :hammer:

Things that help me get by are videos on YouTube, being here on the boards, and I will agree by saying trying to do projects to keep busy. I have started a little freelance business painting wooden growth charts and hanging wall letters for kids' rooms to keep me busy.

You can also try taking up scrapbooking (although it gets pricey especially saving for a trip) it does take up a lot of time. Especially if you make a scrapbook from your previous trips.

Or you can plan plan plan as much as you possibly can to keep busy. I buy all of the WDW planning books and read them through and through just to keep the time passing. I also make itinerary after itinerary of things I want to do, don't want to do, might want to do, what restaurants to go to on what days.

Enjoy this part of the planning process... it's a lot of fun :)

About four months before our June trip I start a short (20 min) video of our prior years trip. I usually have 2 hours or so of video footage just randomly shot, as any home video would be, and I edit it down into 4 or 5 music videos to compile into one short movie. Then our families get together about a week before our trip and watch it. It's a great way to kick off our trip. With all the software out there, it's really easy and it does take a lot of time, so your trip will be here maybe even a little too soon.

A fun game me and my family play before going on trips is Disney Scene It. Its a game that involves video clips of movies and its a blast. there are two versions out now and its a great way to get "Disney pumped" before your trip.

For the last 2 trips and the current countdown, I find a coll little video everyday and e-mail it to everyone who is going on the trip. It's fun for you to do the search, and a little surprise for everyone else in their inbox!

My wife specifically asked me to start today, 100 days to go (thats a lot of video links)

I become planning obsessed.

Also, we watch all the Disney movies we own - especially the classics. That takes quite a while!

When we get a little closer, we make a construction paper chain with a link for each day. Every morning we tear one off. It really helps my younger children get the concept of the amount of time.

As of this Post I'm at 170 days and I'm already getting my Cosplay Costumes set for MNSSHP. I'm hoping to go to at least 2 on my trip.

But, to pass the time and keep myself excited.. I Listen to Park Music, Watch the Top 7 Must Sees & HCOE Vacation Planning Dvd and also go use my Walt Disney World Explorers 1 & 2 for my PC.

And then there's The best Game that was based on the park. The Walt Disney World Quest: Magical Racing tour for Playstation, Dreamcast or PC. It Does wonders and it let's you race through your favorite rides and that really passes the time!

If you like, you can use napkins and write each day on it. my parents used disney napkins, but regular ones work just perfect!:):animwink::)
