could you watch your usage of the word ? thanks.
Oh come on people!!!! How far must we go in our strive for PC! He wasn't trying to offend anyone! He wasn't using it in a negative context! Some people are just too damned sensitive! I'm so tired of," Oh you can't say that"! Oh yeah, watch me! He wasn't poking fun at some kid walking down the street, he was joking about himself! Good grief loosen up!:fork:

The term "" is used in offensive ways too often and not using that word it is not being "PC", it's being careful of word usage. I work with individuals with MR/DD and when you call/refer to someone without MR or even someone WITH MR as "retarded" it's offensive. I consider that a slur. I am not trying to be hateful, but IMO your "tone" with your comments is hateful. Someone just politely pointed out the OP should be careful of word usage, and I am sure he didn't "mean to be offensive". end of story. No need to make fun of the other people who say it offends them. Sorry, and congrats to the original poster and their special night at WDW!

My mom works with challenged children as well! I personally don't see the problem with the term, but if someone does, who cares? It's not an offensive term, it's a loose term.A term with a negative connotaion, not always a negative meaning. The person who hears it determines whether or not it is offensive to them. I can take almost any word anyone says and take it personally or offensively, but I don't. If I did, my life would be one big constant correction. I choose not to live that way. If others do, that's fine, but dont expect me to hold my tongue because you turn an innocent word into a negative comment!

That's understandable. For those of us who it DOES offend also shouldn't hold our tongue to things that we feel aren't right. It's a winless argument.:brick:

Trying to have an intellectual discussion. Please! Boy, go back and read your textbooks, then come and talk to me! To the OP, sorry for stealing the thread. To Erika, sorry you had to step in. To all others who have read this thread, my apologies! To photodave, oh well, it's not worth it!

This thread is GREAT. I only wish the OP had used the word Gay instead. Both sides would really be making my side split then. Keep it going folks, I'm here reading all day.

(BTW, , kinda not so nice of a word, if we are taking a poll, good thing spaz wasn't used either, or all those people that didn't see "The Wild" would be boycotting again)
