How realistic is this?

Myself and a friend reallly want to go to Disney world after our a levels for aboput two weeks. We live in england so including flights what do you reckon is the cheapest we do the whole disney holiday thing? obviously we couldnt afford a disney hotel...but any ball park figures?

Hmm, if you're not going at a peak time, you may want to check www.mousesavers.com. Sometimes it is worth it to stay on property since you don't have to rent a car this way. If you can get a good deal it may balance out. I think some of the off-property hotels have their own transportation as well but I'm not sure how much those places run.

If you go after your last exam and before the school holidays start you should be able to get a good price for a flight. Try flights4less.com. I should think you could find something for about £300, especially if you're happy to change planes elsewhere in the US, or possibly Amsterdam or Paris. You'll need to fly into Orlando International (MCO) if you're going it alone as Sanford is far too far out if you haven't got a car (see below).

You should also be able to find some cheap accommodation along either International Drive (near Universal an Sea World) or on Hwy 192 (near Disney Maingate). Try typing "Orlando Accommodation" into a search engine and seeing what comes up.

Most of the hotels, even the economy ones, offer transportation.
You can't hire a car - you need to be over 21 and have held a full licence for a year.

Alternatively, try a travel agent. Business is slow because of the war and 9/11 so you may get a bargain. We've used Thomas Cook this year for a fly drive (booked villa privately) - they've bent over backwards to get us exactly what we want.

Your big expense is the parks. They only cost a bit more per day than Alton Towers, are infinitely more impressive, but it adds up....

Hope you find something you can afford.

Sorry, I don't know what time frame you're talking about, but are you sure you couldn't get in on the $74 at All Stars that is good until July 3?

If the choice is off-site for $50 or on-site for $74, I would go on site because of the transportation issue, especially since you won't have a car.

Off-site transportation often leaves something to be desired.

PS--for the sake of estimating expenses, figure $50 per day for park tickets. After 8 days, an annual pass is less money, and there are hotel discounts available with that.
