How permanent will Pete's Silly Sideshow be?

I don't think it will be permanent, but I think it'll be here for a good period of time. Maybe it'll be gone by 2016.

The backdrops for each character matches their overlay, so they aren't going anywhere for a long time

Understood. I was suggesting that perhaps they might have "guest" characters in addition to the established ones for the attraction. Like having Sideshow Pete meet people along with Donald and Goofy in that line. Sort of how they added Minnie to the Mickey M&G in the Town Square Theater.

Except now, it doesn't look like Minnie will be with Mickey at the Town Square Theater anymore.

Entertainment plans M&G in six month increments. They don't say, let's have Pete out for a week, then Clara Cluck, then the three pigs, etc.

And while this MK is the largest shuffle in three years, I'm sure it will not change much for another three at least.

I would love to see a paradigm shift in their thinking but that would require increased managerial staff and a loss of efficiency.

Given the rumors of more layoffs in the offing, it's doubtful

I seriously doubt that it'll be gone by then. I imagine everything being pretty permanent considering it's all brand new and part of the highly touted FLE. I just have a hard time believing that they would close it after only two years. Could they maybe make changes to the venue or even the character line up? Sure, but I think it will be here in some capacity for a long time.

What are you trying to say?

I'm not sure how permanent it'll be. A good few years at least is my best guess. But at least it's small enough that they could put something else in at not too much cost in if they wanted to. It does seem like a perfect place for M&G.

Random though but does anyone think it's weird that it's called Pete's Silly Sideshow when you can't even meet Pete? They would have been better calling it off Mickey's Silly Sideshow considering at least you can meet him.

Except you already meet Mickey now at Town Square Theater, which would make things kind of redundant.

True... But my point was just being that the attraction is named after a character that you can't meet...and the attraction is perfectly geared towards meeting him...as it is a Meet and Greet. I mean take your pick...Donald's Silly Sideshow, Goofy's Silly Sideshow, ect, ect... all make more sense than saying Pete's Silly Sideshow, when inside there isn't much of Pete to be found.

Whether they keep the name or not, I bet it's still there for WDW's 50th anniversary. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if it's still around for the 60th anniversary too. I mean, why build a new attraction when you can just add another place to meet the same characters you can see 50 other places on property?

Don't expect any layoffs anytime soon. The new Fantasyland is creating hundreds of new jobs and they are going to need all that staff anyway, so please do not spread false rumors that do not exist and do not hold water.

Sorry, Asianway, but your over-the-top pessimism is extremely annoying.

Read my post...hourly staff is not in danger, management however is. Profit targets are not being met

Well seeing as how WDW seems to be getting ready to renovate A LOT of different areas both in MK and other parks, I would imagine pretty permanent.

  • They're the rumors of the plussing of Adventureland with 'Pirates' themed interactive areas
  • The entirety of Old Fantasyland seems to be getting a small facelift to tie into New Fantasyland with new brickwork
  • The whole on again off again Avatarworld in Animal Kingdom
  • The rumored 'Carsland' expansion in DHS
  • The rumored revamping of both the B&tB and LM stage shows in DHS
  • Tangled Bathroom Area
  • Princess Hall
  • Mine Train
Granted almost all of these are rumors, but they're highly reliable ones. There has been confirmation about a lot of ideas being thrown around about DHS. So they seem to be changing focus of their renovations. Granted PSS is not my favorite area in the expansion, it is growing on me by the minute every time I see a new picture. SBC is incredibly themed and seems A LOT more polished than Toontown was. It seems like the entire FLE is pretty solid with no major changes coming soon.

And again nothing for Epcot as usual.

I didn't wonder where Barnum or Bailey were when I went to the circus when I was a tyke. So, no, not really.

That's a helluva lot different than this... Barnum and Bailey exactly have many people dressed up in giant costumes that you could meet On a regular basis. Totally different.

Not really... the idea of a sideshow is to go see the acts and performers contained within, not to meet the barker. Meeting Pete in his sideshow wouldn't really make any sense, he's not an act in his own show.
