How often would you go?

If you lived within an hour of Disney World and had annual passes (premium/annual/seasonal/weekday... whichever), how often would you go? Do you think going too much could ruin the "magic"? How much is too much?

We have gone four times since getting our annual passes (gifts for Christmas). I don't think it ruins the magic by going too much - but it has definitely altered the way we go. Meaning, it's no big deal now to head over if DD has a half day of school, or hey - it's Saturday let's head up for the afternoon and watch fireworks. We don't feel so bad about leaving knowing that we can come back again whenever we wanted.

If I lived close and could go whenever I wanted, it would be for a day at a time, or even half day or evening. Maybe just to have dinner, or people watch, or catch a parade, or wander around a park after dark.

And even then, I'm positive it would only be a few times a month. There IS such a thing as "too much of a good thing". When we went to WDW 3 times in a 2-year span, I was burnt out. It wasn't "magical" that third trip. It wasn't special.

The best trips for us have been when we hadn't been for a year or more. We last went in August 2014, and won't be going again until Jan 2016. I'm really looking forward to that trip, and I feel I'll appreciate it a lot more because of the time between trips.

I live an hour away from the WDW and have been an AP now for 3 years. I don't think it has ruined the magic for us at all. Instead, it's given us the chance to be more leisurely about the way we explore the parks. Instead of having to cram everything into a designated time period, we're able to just go and try new things and visit old favorites. Even the friends I have who have had APs for 10+ years still get excited about each new visit. I think Disney is special like that.

Thanks for the replies so far :) for Christmas, we got the weekday annual passes and are going for the 4th time tomorrow (5th time will be next week). My kids are begging to attempt to go once a week during the times we aren't blocked out. I would be down for it, but I didn't want the magic to be gone. Of course, they insisted that wouldn't happen ;)

I live an hour away and have had a Prem Annual for 3 years now. I only go maybe once a month and a few times a year for extended stays. As said above, doesn't ruin the magic because I can relax and do it at my pace instead of rushing. I miss or skip something no biggie cause I have the option to pretty much return anytime and yes that is a beautiful thing :)

I live 3 hours away, and since we bought our passes in May we've been 6 times and this weekend will be our seventh. It doesn't ruin the magic! It's even more exciting because you notice small little details that you wouldn't if you were in such a rush all the time

I lived 15 minutes away for 22 years. Went at least once a month, often every weekend. Not for terribly long, usually half a day, or sometimes just the evening. Loved it, never tired of it. What you do and what's important changes though. It becomes less about individual rides, getting everything in, and thrill and more about just taking in the ambience, relaxing, meeting up with friends, taking advantage of all the things not in the parks (spending a day walking around from wilderness lodge to ft. Wilderness for example) getting excercise in, etc.

I loved living that close and would move back in a heartbeat if I could. Unfortunately my job has other plans, hopefully in the not too distant future I'll be within driving distance to Dianeyland, which will be awesome, but still won't be as close.

What's really awesome is if you can find friends that also see it this way and live close. Hide and seek through the magic kingdom or a hotel is epic!

I'm a 4 hour drive away (30 min flight) and I only go about once a year for about 3-6 days each time, so that one trip feels that much better every year. In my current situation I think to myself I'd love to go everyday but logically I feel that would be a bad idea and burn me out. So for the sake of ignoring my better judgement, I shall say EVERY DAY!

Disney is so much more than riding rides or experiencing attractions. It is different each time you go. When you go to experience Disney at a different level, you can go more frequently. As stated before, people watching is one of my favorite things to do now. Watching people rush around and try to squeeze every cent they can out of their admission is hilarious.

We live about an hour away and go once or twice a month. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Sometimes I go by myself.

But rarely is it for a full day. And often we combine the visits with other OTown happenings and shopping.

The Magic is still there I guess. I tell my fiancé all the time that it never gets old for me.

What I am sick of is when we go back North for vacation all we here about is how we go to WDW all the time blah blah blah. So I've stopped posting photos, or checking in at the parks on social media to try and get them to shut up.

I go so much and I never get tired of it. I live in Tampa (1.5 hours). In fact, i just got home from there 2 hours ago after spending days. Did the KEYS TO THE KINGDOM TOUR. Sweet tour btw. Try that sometime. What's nice is if one park is full I just move on to the another park. It's nice because I don't feel like I have to cram in all the rides in order to have a good time.

I lived between 8 and 18 minutes from every WDW park's parking lot when I was a cast member, and I loved it. I went practically every day off I had, and sometimes before or after shifts, too. The parks never really got old; rather, I just found new ways to experience them.

The difficult part is making visits to WDW after being away from them again. The first time going back after being a CM, it felt a little strange to be spending thousands and thousands of dollars to just rehash what had once been my practically-free weekend routine. It somehow made the money spent seem really exorbitant or even wasteful, even though a few years ago it seemed completely normal.

Congratulations on getting the new passes! It's certainly a different experience once you have them.

If it is something that you're concerned about, try to do new something new each time you go to keep things fresh. See a new show, try a new restaurant, tour a new resort. Hop on the ferry from Wilderness Lodge to Magic Kingdom. Really take in the details of a different country each time you're in Epcot. Go on a hunt for Hidden Mickeys!

I think that's part of that makes WDW so special. There are so many details upon details incorporated into every aspect that there is always some new angle to take in an experience. I hope you and your children have a wonderful time exploring!

Also, look for news on here and the Disney Parks Blog and other popular disney blogs. There is always some new food item or seasonal event or cool new thing taking place. Disney is like its own little city - there's always something new to check out!

Wait, people don't live close to Disney and can't go on a whim just to ride MAYBE one ride like I can? That must be awful.

We live 3 hours away and go very often. Like others have said it doesn't ruin the magic so much as it alters our visit strategy. One thing is that we don't feel under pressure to see everything in one trip. Another is because we have slowed down our pace we are getting to spend more time investigating things that normally get missed such as the Hollywood Studios citizenry.

For me, we live in Philadelphia so I always say I wish we could go every 3 months and I totally would! We went 3 times in a years span last yr...Feb 2013...Sept 2013 and Feb 2014...I can't wait until our trip in April...it has been FAR TOO LONG! I have friends who live in Orlando and have AP's and she takes her kids every few months to a diff park. I assume I would go on weekends or as often as possible

If I lived that close to the Disney Parks our family would probably go a couple times a month. Maybe for dinner, to see a show or just to get out of the house and do a few favorite rides. We live an hour from Kings Dominion in VA and when the kids were small we had APs and would go 2 or 3 times a month. It never got boring and we couldn't wait to go the next time.
