How much money is in "It's a small world"?

I take a few from the fountains every time I visit. Remember "The Goonies"? "This is my dream, this is my wish, and I am taking them back...I am taking them all back" With the way Disney is going, I feel that way at times.....and before you get everything in a bunch, I really don't take anything from the fountains. I am sure most of you feel the same though.

:D:D:D
I imagine the scene...
Dis security bag check guard .. Whats this for? ( pulling a panning dish out of your bag)

You... Oh I'm just picking up a few coins out of the water... to help me cover the trip.
Dis security bag check guard... We got us another one.:cautious:

When "It's A Small World" first debuted, it was at the Pepsi pavilion at the 1964 New York World's Fair in Flushing Meadows, Queens, as a tribute to UNICEF. If the story I heard is correct, to this day, all coinage collected from the waterways of the ride are still donated to UNICEF as a nod to this original connection.

Well, if they collected all the coinage from the first day it opened....I'm sure they are still a good amount short from getting that Diamond Studded Cinderella Castle they sell for $37,500 in DTD...

Don't they donate it when the ride is cleaned? Read that somewhere I think.

Yes they do donate any money tossed into the attractions.

They also donate on a daily basis, cooked , but UNSERVED food to various food banks in the general area. I was told in amounts to a lot of food!

In May I was speaking with the CM at DTD and she said they have sold 27 of them total. They will even come to your house to hand deliver and set it up. It is packed in a SUPER-MONSTER-BUBBLE box.
And yes you can use your Disney Visa to purchase it! lol

Actually there were some awesome stories about some of the buyers. One lady, her mom always wanted her to have one and when she left this world, she used her inheritance to purchase one. She said well over half of the ones purchased were just regular people and it meant a lot to them to have that memory at home. Thought that was cool.

Back on topic... If Uncle Teddy is correct (If you don't know of Uncle Teddy, go to youtube and search for him on IASW), the coins are from the eyes of the people on their way to hell... So, how many riders over the years? LOL ;)

The money collected goes to Give Kids the World. It is a local organization that is a resort for chronically ill and terminally ill children coming to the Orlando for their last wishes. Great organization.
