How much is it to ship souveniers home from WDW.

How much is it to ship souviners home from Disney. Just in case I run short on room in my suitcase I was thinking I could have it shipped by UPS or postal. Has anyone ever done this?

We've shipped stuff to California before. I can't recall how much it was, but I know we felt it was reasonable. It was so nice to not have the headache of packing so much.

We've shipped boxes of souvenirs home several times. The only time I ship from the shop I purchase something is for the real fragile stuff (personalized glass ornaments). Everything else we get together & ship out on our last day. The times we've shipped from the business center in the conference center at the Contemporary they shipped FedEx & it was kinda pricey. This past January the concierge at AKL gave us 2 big boxes & some tape. We took these to our room, packed the boxes, then shipped from the front desk at the resort. I forget the actual cost, but it was less than half what we've paid with FedEx at the business center. We commented on this at the time & the CM said we were paying their cost using their account pricing. My guess is the business center charges closer to full price then pockets the difference.

We have purchased items at the downtown disney world of disney store and had them shipped home. When you do this you do not pay the taxes on the items but you do pay shipping cost, but you will save some of the shipping by not having to pay the taxes.

While Disney Shipping can be pricey (and I belive the price it according to the price of what you bought, not its weight/size) I have to say, the two times I have had Disney ship items, they have been done an excellent job.

I have had a big fig (the Black Pearl) and framed artwork (roughly 20" x 30") shipped to my home.

Both times it came via UPS, and was packed very well. The big fig was in its styrofoam cradle in its normal box, and then that box was in a bigger box padded with packing peanuts.

the artwork was encased in flattened carboard boxes, carboard corner protectors / spacers put on, then wrapped in two layets of bubble wrap, and then placed in a larger box.

Both came with no damage at all.

Some advice...

Go down to you local Post Office. Pick out one or two FLAT RATE boxes, folded flat (FREE). Go to the desk, pay for them Orlando to Home. Put them in your suitcase. Pack stuff in these at WDW, take them to the desk, then ask them to put the FR boxes into outgoing mail.

WDW tends to use FEDEX - if you ship with a shop? Things will show up VERY fast... at a fairly high cost.

That is a great idea. I hadn't thought of that. That is an easy way to control the cost of shipping items.
