No ipod here, but I recently bought an Archos 404 portable media player, along with an optional DVR station. Got them both for 270, they usually retail for 400 together. The player is bigger and clunkier than an ipod for sure, but the screen is also bigger, and the DVR station allows me to download video directly into the player, without having to put it in my computer and conform it to any other specs first. I'm kind laid up today anyway, so on my agenda for the day is taking some of the Disney Food network & Travel Channel specials on my Tivo and transferring them into the Archos.
The player & station has some other neat features as well, most notably, it'll make copies of copy protected DVDs and tapes as well, but still contain the copy protection. This way, you can watch it on the player's screen, without being able to illegally copy it. So when it comes to the next big trip, I can copy some of my Disney DVDs we can watch to and fro Orlando, without having to put the movies in my computer and strip the copy protection and conform it into a M4P or WMV format.
Sorry for sounding like a commercial. Heh, if anything, I'm probably trying to talk myself into being happy with my Archos and not having an ipod like all the kewl kidz.

I actually like ipods, I'm just not crazy about itunes' closed-off business model (though I think Rhapsody is now an online music provider than converts to AAC or wmv). But it's a pretty nifty, convenient device, if you don't mind something biggerbthan an ipod
