How many guests per ADR?

We will be traveling with my in-laws who will get to Disney the day before us. Their day to make reservations is this Saturday, ours is Sunday. Can you make reservations for five even if the person making the reservations a Disney vacation package party of two?

Yep. I made ADR's for four for several days of our last trip, even though it was just two of us in our package and no one else linked in my MDE account.

Thank you. Now I have to establish both MDE accounts and link them. Any suggestions to make it easier?

It shouldn't be too difficult honestly. Anyone that I've seen have trouble linking accounts seems to have good luck getting it fixed with a call to tech support. Not ideal, but you may not even need it... and if you do, it's better to do it now than when you're trying to book fast passes.

You'll definitely want to have everyone linked up in your MDE account to get fastpasses together, so might as well go ahead and put them in there now. If you book dining by phone, they'll just ask how many people will be in your party - it won't matter a bit about how many are linked up. I've known of some people having difficulty booking dining online for a party larger than the number of people linked in their MDE account.

Interesting. I didn't have that problem at all and the other two I was booking for weren't in my MDE account. Maybe it has to do with total group size or something?

Not sure of what exactly they were booking! I haven't had a problem doing it online or by phone. Regardless, I'd definitely go ahead and get all the travel party linked up so they'd be there for any thing else needed on the trip!

Make sure you link accounts before making ADR's! Otherwise you need a CM to copy ad hoc reservations to the linked account (not that it happened to me :)

Agreed. I even encouraged it earlier in this same thread lol. That part of your comment just caught my attention.

I'm organizing the meals for the group, but I have not done this in the MDE era. Can I make one account or do I make two for the different traveling parties and link them? What do I need to start? Resort reservation numbers?

For dining only purposes, you could just use one account; but again, for FP purposes, it'll be much better to have separate accounts for each person, so it's better to go ahead and set them up now so that everything is streamlined from the start. You will need resort reservation numbers to do the 180+10 thing on your ADR's... otherwise, you could technically do them without those numbers, but you would only be able to do one day at a time, and then the next day you could do day two of your trip, and then the next day do day 3, etc. So yeah, it's better to go ahead and set everything up.

Thanks for all the help. I've always considered myself a pro when it comes to making Disney reservations. All this new stuff makes me feel like a rookie again.

I think we're all feeling that way. I'm new to planning Disney trips anyway, as our trip two weeks ago was my first visit as an adult and my first time there at all in 15 years, but this new system has definitely give people plenty of learning curves from everything I've read ;)

Basically if you want to see everyone or have them see you, every member of their party must be linked. If you just want an ADR that they can't see, it's fine to just create them all in a single account. FP+ is usually the key that requires you to link but memory maker can also be linked so worth thinking about if you're doing that.
