How long does it take by car from WDW to NYC?

We are planning our next trip to WDW for September/October (our third in 12 months, yes we are increasingly insane) and this time want to combine our visit to the World with NYC and New England. We want to drive from WDW to New York City and need some advice how long such a trip will take if we only drive on the interstates on the fastest and most direct route to NYC possible.
Thank you.

Would you consider flying to NYC and leaving direct from there? You can sometimes find flights around $130 one way on Southwest or Jetblue from Orlando to JFK or LaGuardia.

Actually we planned to go by car because we wanted to "drive a little" through the US, so far all we now of the US is Florida and NYC. But we already checked the prices after your advice and we really found true bargains so are reconsidering at the moment.

I live in NY, and am planning a drive to WDW in October myself. I am NOT looking foward to it, I hate driving! (we have 1 yo twins, and driving just made the most sense) When I was a kid my parents drove us up and down the east coast on vacations, and I think that ruined it for me.

If you can swing the flights I would do that. However, there are some nice places to stop and break up your trip though if you have the time. Some people say that the drive is half the fun. ;)

Exactly what we were thinking, however if flying is considerable CHEAPER that could change a lot. We are still checking.

Some of my family just bought flights yesterday, looks like you can get flights as chaeap as $130 ea. way, NYC to MCO.
If you do decide to drive I am sure you will find plenty of fun things to do as well. Either way enjoy your trip!

Use the cash you save to see a Broadway show!!

The one thing I would recommend is to always take the bypasses around the big cities. Take I295 around Richmond, especially if you coming thru at night are during Rush Hour times. They are doing bridge work on I95 in Richmond at night, so you have traffic down to one lane for a few miles at night. I295 starts right above Richmond and ends right below Petersburg and there is less traffic, so you are able to bypass the Richmond/Petersburg area. You also might want to check out a book called Drive I-95 as it covers the entire length of I95 and lists rest areas and whats at each exit along the way.

Whatever you do, try to plan to hit DC in the early morning hours if you can, as someone else said in the thread. I go there fairly often and it is the worst to drive around/in when the traffic is bad.

Heard its amazing - haven't see it though. I'd recommend Jersey Boys - it's one of my favorites. Or Mary Poppins ;) .

Wicked is excellent! I enjoyed Mary Poppins as well...though if anyone goes to see that, be prepared...it is most definitely NOT a carbon copy of the movie. It actually pulls a decent amount of stuff from the original book series, which were a bit...guess harsher might be the right word? than the movie was. They include a villan who is quite creepy.

And I've never seen Jersey Boys but it's on my list! :)

We drove from about an hour west of NYC to WDW last July in just under 17 1/2 hours (driving all night). It's pretty much one road after I 4 up the coast (I 95). Have fun
