I booked my trip through AAA, we are set to leave on May 29th, and I still have not gotten any documents in the mail, is this normal? Anyone know the usual time they get in? Am I worried over nothing?

When trips are booked through a travel agency, the documents are delivered to the agency, not you. Call your agent.

I am aware of this, but then I guess my question is still, when do they usually get to the agency? I just want to know if I should be calling them now because this is not normal, or that they usually come withing 10 days or so of the trip.

- Magical Express usually 21-30 days before travel
- WDW package vouchers usually 10-24 days before travel
- WDW room only you get nothing, unless you are using Magical Express

I book through AAA all the time and if I don't hear from them by 2-3 weeks out, I normally give them a call. But there almost always in by the 2 week mark.

Not really too many advantages. For me it's the Diamond club parking, but there are a few other perks(character pic at MK). To be honest, I have really not enjoyed my agent this time around. When you deal directly with Disney you can call them and deal with them etc...I am hating this middleman business this time around because the agent has not been very responsive or good. She always makes me feel like I am a bother to her. That said my previous agent(now retired) was wonderful so if you do use AAA see if you can find one that knows their Disney.

I used to book my trips through AAA. Usually they call me a week or so after my 45 days payment and let me know that they have my documents. I would pick up my documents from them.
I would be concerned and call them to see if they have my documents and if my last payment went though properly.

Thx. We are driving this time so we thought it might be helpful to have them map it for us and see if anything is going on the roads. Thought if they got any perks we might book the whole trip through them!

I say go for it Bri. The Diamond Parking is the best(right near the front) so it's worth it for that.
As for me, I tried calling my agent yesterday, she never answered the phone, and I sent an email, still waiting for a response.

Added Postscript--Turns out they(AAA) have had the documents at their office since the 9th. The reason given for why I did not get them yet, was the manager said I was supposed to get some final email giving approval or something of a small change(I added on more day to the park tickets-10 dollar cost) which was already charged on my card. I never got the email(made the change over 3 weeks ago), and asked when the documents would have gotten to me, considering they had them for over week. She said "oh we would have caught it at some point this week"....ridiculous. Needless to say think twice before you use AAA, unless you know the agent has a good reputation.

Call the AAA agency and ask for the manager. tell them about your discontent with your agent. They'll light a fire under the agent and check to see if the documents are sitting on the agent's desk.

It's a shame that you only get AAA discounts if you book with AAA (with the exception of room only). Most of the agents are just concerned about commsions. Even with calling Disney you have to remember the person you talk to is at "their job" and you would think diferently but they are there to make a living, not because they love Disney.

f your going to use a travel agency find a Disney only agency. There are many out there. First off these people love Disney and love helping people with Disney vacations. They go the extra mile for you.

Have a great trip.

We used AAA this past September 2010. The agent was great and she gotten an extra discount and modified the package. Before she made the change she called me to inform me of the change. It was great. We did save a good amount of money vs booking the trip our self on line. Now the one thing that we did do fianlly was instead of using Disney transportaion all the time we used our car and used the Diamond parking. Really loved doing this. The DWF and I loved how we could go about out bussiness faster and at our pace instead of waiting for the bus from Port Orleans Riverside and from the parks back to the resort. We will be looking at Kingdom Consultants our next trip in 2012 and see how that works for us vs Triple AAA and of course booking on line.

It was actually the manager I spoke with. I think it's ridiculous the paperwork had been sitting in their office for over a week. Oh well, lesson learned. Next time I am going to actually go to a local office not book on the phone,I live in PA about 45 mins from any part of New Jersey, and the wonderful AAA system ended up giving me a person from an office in Jersey near the south jersey shore!

My mom has used AAA a few times and really likes the people in the office near her. So since this is a surprise trip for the kids we might drop them with her and head to her office.

I doubt we will drive to the parks. We are staying in the Epcot area resorts and love taking the boat. But I guess they are good to have just in case!

Bri,
Here is the link that shows you the perks with AAA.

I think your local agent sounds pretty good. Just make sure you know what deals disney is offering too, because any that they have (free dining ect) the agent should be able to give you as well.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with your agent! That's really too bad! You're not the first person I've heard of having a problem like that.

We've used AAA several times, and I guess we are lucky we have a great agent. She has always been very helpful, although I know exactly what I want before I call her. It's just a matter of having her book it.

Yes, I could book it myself through Disney, but we actually do like the perks. Plus if you book a "Magic Your Way" package you will at least get a discount on the room rate. Then if Disney comes out with something better, we just let our agent know and she applies that discount. Plus, if you have younger kids, they may enjoy the character Storytime and Parade viewing. You'll also get a 10 or 15% discount on tours. But if it was an adult only or trip with older kids, I probably wouldn't get much use out of the perks - unless we drove.

Have a wonderful trip!
