How is WDW not what it used to be?

I agree with a lot of things that are being set. We have been going to Disney since 2001 and things have gone up, but things have gone up everywhere. But still you will get that Cast Member that will make that "Magic" still appear. I don't know about the rest of you, but it gives me a warm feeling and I have such a smile on my face. That is the difference between WDW and other parks. Well at least for me. As far as the advance planning I always do it, it gets me so excited for our next trip!

This commercial summed it all up for me...All of this stuff and Rooms at Deluxe hotels for $85 a NIGHT!

You'll NEVER Get something this good ever again...

On the flip side, while I agree Deluxe rooms are way to expensive for me to ever afford, the salary I was making in 1991 is about than half the salary I make now. That being said, so if Disney doubled their prices from 1991 to now, same as my salary, the price for a deluxe resort should be $170-$190!!!

The first time we stayed on property in 1997 (All Star Music, I believe), in the resort store they sold leftover? discontinued? merchandise quite cheap. Got some terrific buys. They don't do that anymore. Also (and this was during my DSs school break (second grader), it seemed EMHs in the a.m. started at 7:30, whereas now I think they start at 8 a.m. ... am I imagining this? There seemed to be more "perks" but my aging mind can't remember them all.

because it used to be good now its ****e

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I have to ask, if you dislike Disney so much, why are you on here? Your other posts are very similar. Again, I'm not trying to start anything, I'm just curious. You don't seem to like Disney very much yet I see you on here a lot.

Well to be honest I guess its force of habit but I don't intend to start explaining myself to a no mark, no offence intended. There is a feature that can be deployed to block posts if they are not to your taste or if the nature of their content dampens your magic. Not trying to be argumentative but the thing with the internet is you get access to all sorts. True I find the current WDW a shadow of its former self and the movies saccharine sweet and asinine but one would have thought the perfect place to express frustrations with a brand would be on a site dedicated to said brand.I do so enjoy the California parks, I just happen to enjoy vegas and the wine areas more.
I suppose the fact that you notice me on here a lot, despite having not posted for a year, clearly means my posts are memorable, and generally fantastic. Toot toot.

I truly don't understand why you would make such an effort, only to post negatively.

We cant all ride the sunshine bus can we.

Rest assured once this trip is out of the way Ill head off into the sunset again and leaving you safe to log in without having to see all those negative vibes about your corporation of choice.

Hey, you're not hurting me a bit. I was just wondering what your motivation is. I'll live just fine if I never find out . . . . .

Now I know irony is a pretty evasive concept for the average colonial so I can understand why its flying straight over the old napper. But, you have made a few posts asking about something you admit to not caring about yet question why I would post about something I don't particularly care about.
My motivation is as always in my art. To craft a post that is challenging, engaging forces people to examine their understanding and viewpoint while at the same time being entertaining, its what I live for. Either that or I'm just taking the pish.

Not to join the negativity parade....as Disney World is still the bees knees....

But before, someone mentioned the character meet spots....I guess this con is not noticeable to me as I'm older...but for the little ones & parents....seeing characters in passing and stopping for pictures and autograph made such an impression on a young pysche....

Some (like me) have a point of view that what once was...is no more. Where once we felt magic now we see through the thin veil of pixie dust and feel it getting thinner with every new corporate money grab...and as such voice our frustrations here among those who also share the love of WDW and also in hopes (perhaps misplaced) that someone from TDO might actually read and take to heart our frustrations. Many "negative Nancy's" ARE in fact enthusiasts and lovers of WDW...we just see it without the rose colored glasses. It is not an affront on those in love with Disney but rather a hearkening to the magic we once felt and the waning ability to feel it any longer. As Mr Nakasak has said...unfollowing people may be the best recourse for those who do not like differing points of view.

I honestly don't mind the advanced planning.

Oh, yeah, I know. People trot out the planning thing like it's the coup de grace of the argument. I like to point out that ANY vacation requires planning. My usual analogy is Manhattan. If you want a fancy Broadway show followed by dinner at a 5-star restaurant and think you can set that up the day of, well then there's a bridge over in Brooklyn you might be interested in as a souvenir.

One of the reasons I choose this board over another is that this one seems more honest. The other board that I used to be on was a constant stream of "magical":
- "Everything is magical.."
- "Can you believe how magical it is?"
- "I just go there and... magical!"
- "It's so magical!"

If you ever posted something that wasn't magical you'd usually get corrected by some member that what you actually should be thinking is how magical it is. Ugh.
