How is Kona Cafe's lunch?

Going to WDW May 2-6. We have deluxe dining and are looking for somewhere to go for lunch after we check into our hotel on the first day. After lunch we were going to Animal Kingdom. I went to Yak and Yeti in July and didn't love it that much so we decided to make reservations for Kona Cafe since we've never been there. I saw some reviews and didn't hear such great things about their lunch. Any reviews? Thanks!

I haven't had lunch there but did have dinner our last trip and we all loved the meal. I checked the lunch menu and it looks like a smaller version of the dinner menu. I'd vote, check it out! Those sticky wings are delicious!!!

Dh and I ate lunch there in January, and it was excellent. We both had the Polynesian Plate Lunch - he had the steak and I had the chicken. We'll definitely eat there again. :slurp:

That's exactly what we planned to do...lunch the first day and the day we leave we'll go for breakfast. I think I definitely need to experience the famous Tonga toast at least once in my life! Thanks for your help!

We've been once for lunch and dinner and liked lunch much better. We both got the Island Chicken Sandwich for lunch (not on the dinner menu) and really liked it. I got mine with fries and my husband opted for the house-made chips on the side, which were SOOO good. I'm definitely getting the chips next time. We split the Kilauea Torte for dessert, which is one of my favorite desserts at WDW. And you can't beat the atmosphere. Hope you like it! :wave:

i MUCH prefer lunch at kona to dinner. went twice, very impromptu, on our honeymoon last august, and it was fantastic. nice, relaxed atmosphere and GREAT food. enjoy!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the chips are gone. They have been replaced with sweet potato fries which IMO are amazing!!!!!

NOOOOOO I am not a fan of sweet potato. Oh well. Thanks for telling me, at least I have 9 months to prepare myself for the fact that they won't be there! :lol:
